The second-largest city in Maine, home to thousands of African newcomers, has elected a Somali American to its city council.
Safiya Khalid, 23, soundly defeated a fellow Democrat on Tuesday for a seat on the Lewiston City Council in a campaign that was marred in the final days by racially charged attacks and threats that were fueled by social media.

Just wait for the "new" Democrats to decide the older Democrats are no longer needed...taking up valuable resources, and such.
Isn’t it ironic that it’s always certain groups that are threatened by certain group? Never the other way around.
“The do-gooders who brought in Mogadishu asked for it. “
Those do-gooders live in elite gated communities and will not be harmed by their own policies.
More proof that Democrats are racist.
I always wished to visit Maine. Might rethink my bucket list. ....naw. .. I’ll be there next summer. :-D
Go while you still can.
Maine is being Africanized
You can thank the Bush family for this and Minnesomolia.
Maybe not, but I'm not so sure about their grandchildren.
obama and ilk have ruined another city in America- expect it to mimic ilhan omar’s district very very soon- Maine of all places- Good golly!
Aaaannnddddd, the camel pushes it nose further under the tent...
Maine is a place that seems really a great place to be. I love the wilderness. Just not to keen on Omar and her kin.
don’t know where you’re planning on visitting, but if you want suggestions,
Go down to Wells area- or up to LL Bean town, and or Camden area- two nice vacation spots- BUT be prepared for gridlock traffic on the main roads- Take a boat cruise along shoreline if you can swing it- makes for a nice day out- also find out of the way lobster and clam shacks if you like good fresh seafood- if you like fishing- I believe no license is required, and you can fish the rock shorelines and snag soem real nice striped bass as they scour the shorelines, rocklines for food- a good surface plug works well-
If you go to southern Maine- stop in at Flo’s Hotdog stand- it’s world famous- she has a special sauce (kinda liek an onion sauce, but with some great ingredients) and mayo- but be prepared for massive long lines at times-

also check out ogunquit omelette factory- awesome place to eat- - they serve like 30 different omelletes- http://www.omelettefactoryme.com/
Congdon’s donuts is also pretty famous- in wells maine-
https://congdons.com/
A good seafood restaurant is “The Maine Diner”- it’s featured a lot on cookin shows- https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g40951-d504837-Reviews-Maine_Diner-Wells_Maine.html
Billy’s Chowder house is pretty good too

so many great places to eat in Maine- all along the coast- good fresh seafood- great steak houses- but if you wanna save a bit of money, go inland a ways- coastal prices can be pretty high-
Bar Harbor is nice during the summer and plenty of great places to eat and sleep.
York Maine plenty of nice BandBs.
Castine, several nice places to stay.
etc etc.
We love Maine, been there twice. Did the Rt 1 tour. Flew into Portland then Rt 1 to Bar Harbor and then to all the little fishing towns back up to Portland. We took Ferry to Peaks Island and rented Golf carts and toured the Island. Quaint eateries in town right by the Ferry.
But best place we loved was Ogunquit. The beach recedes during the day then rolls back in at night. Then we walked the Marginal way. Beautiful walk that leads to a little fishing town that has eats and shops.
[[Maine is a place that seems really a great place to be]]
One of the best- 30 years ago that is- still good- but unfortunately it’s being over run by liberals, muslims, gay society (mostly in southern Maine) - Schools have really gone downhill- crime is now increasing pretty bad in spots-
but there is just a boatload of stuff to do there- loads of recreation hotspots- lakes galore, lots of great dining- of course the ocean and all it’;s salty goodness- great winter recreation- etc- and you can still find very conservative towns- but like mentioned, liberals are moving in and wrecking it for everyone- like they always do-
Yep- Bar Harbor- couldn’t remember the name lol- very nice place to vacation-
spent loads of time in york, kittery, wells, ogunquit- all very nice towns- tons of restaurants overlooking the ocean- so nice to sit and eat and get that salt air breeze on a warm summer night and watch the sun set- lots of sea life to entertain too- just so pleasant to watch and eat-
Don’t know if the Artists still work down at Perkin’s cove- but used to be you could go down and watch them paint an ocean scene- listen to street performers- etc- The cove is such a picturesque spot- with hte lobster boats in the harbor- draw bridge over the bay-
Caught many striped bass in that general vicinity over the years- right from shore- such great eating fresh out of the ocean- still has that great sea salt flavor if you cook it in a day or so-
yep- another great day outing is going along marginal way- nice walk- practicality grew up there-
Here’s a link to the way-

Now I’m getting excited.
“But best place we loved was Ogunquit”
Just looked it up.
Love the pronunciation, pronounced /o-gun-quit/,
Love the gun part. Hehehe. .
You’ve given me lots to ponder. Thanks
