After Arizona passed a law that required local police to check the immigration status of people suspected to be in the country illegally, the state's second-largest city wanted to send a message.

The Democrats who control Tucson designated their town an "immigrant welcoming city" in 2012, and the police department adopted rules limiting when officers can ask about the immigration status of people they encounter.

But on Tuesday, given the chance to push the envelope further, the heavily Democratic city voted overwhelmingly not to become an official "sanctuary city" with more restrictions on how and when police officers can enforce immigration laws.

… the heavily Democratic city voted overwhelmingly not to become an official "sanctuary city" …

When is a “sanctuary city” not a “sanctuary city”?

71.4%, voted “no” on the proposal compared to just 29%, who voted “yes.”

Yep, and now even the illegal immigrants are tired of even more illegal immigrants. It’s out of hand down there, you can’t even safely go camping anywhere outside the city, Organ Pipe National monument, or anywhere south of Interstate 8. the southern 1/3rd of Az is now a war zone.

Okay Tucson which is 42% Hispanic votes 70/30 AGAINST making their city a sanctuary city; and Kentucky which has only an 8% African American population, elected a new Attorney General who is African American by 15 points. Both of these facts have to have Democrats puking on their shoes.

The Hispanics in Tucson are multi-generational (eg the Ronstadts) and don’t care for the “newcomers”
