FULL TITLE: Tate Reeves Wins Mississippi Governor Race: Ill Make Mississippi the Safest Place for an Unborn Child
Democrats hoped that trashing President Trump enough would lead to an election victory in the state of Mississippi last night. Instead, pro-life Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves on Tuesday defeated pro-abortion Democratic Attorney General Jim Hood to become the next governor of the state.
Reeves won with 52.2% of the vote compared to 46.6% for Hood, a 48,000+ vote margin of victory.
Reeves will succeed pro-life Gov. Phil Bryant, who is limited by term limits and was a pro-life champion.
Brad Parscale, Trump 2020 campaign manager credited the president with helping Reeves achieve victory.
President Trumps rally and endorsement in Mississippi undoubtedly had an impact and helped Governor-elect Tate Reeves nail down his victory. Governor Reeves will be a tremendous conservative leader for Mississippians in fighting for freedom and keeping taxes low. He will also be a key ally as 2020 approaches and President Trump continues building momentum for re-election, he said.
Reeves has strongly supported pro-life legislation during his time as lieutenant governor. When the state legislature pushed its bill to ban abortions when a babys heart begins beating, he thanks the sponsors of the bill for introducing legislation to stop the barbaric practice of ending life in the womb even though a heartbeat is plainly detected.
I am committed to making Mississippi the safest place in America for an unborn child, he said at the time.
Later, when abortion activists took that law to court, and an activist Obama judge blocked it, Reeves complained about Hood. Reeves criticized Hood for not doing more to defend the law. He also urged the state to appeal the ruling.
Our Heartbeat Bill will save lives and protect a generation of Mississippi children with beating hearts, the lieutenant governor said in a statement. It is no surprise that the Obama-appointed lower court Federal Judge granted this injunction, nor is it a surprise that Jim Hood couldnt find time in his schedule to show up to defend these unborn babies.
They like Kentucky have one last abortion clinic and maybe God willing that will be closed.
Good news.
This is the one we needed. Bevan has made a mess in KY and is disliked even by many conservatives.
We seem to keep repeating the same mistakes: run a lousy candidate and you will lose, having an R after his name means nothing.
Does this mean that Hood has to give back the Pickup Truck he used as a Prop in his Good Old Boy Commercials?
BEFORE someone says we should have won this by 15 points.
Most times when TWO WINNERS of a Statewide Office run against each other, in this case Lt. Gov. and AG, the spread is smaller. A 5.6% margin is a good one.
Looking at the State Wide Races:
Kentucky - ALL Republican wins except Gov
Mississippi - ALL Republican wins except Transportation Comm
These States are ROCK SOLID Trump come 2020.
Thank God for this pro-life victory!
Keep Mississippi Conservative! (The best state in the Union.)
For nutjob liberals, VA was the only bright spot.....gaining control of the legislature (gag).
Otherwise, except for Bevin, Repubs have a lot to celebrate.
Major wins for Repubs ——like pro-life Reeves——came in spite of the unceasing anti-Trump garbage from Schiff and that crowd.
Schiff/Piglosi rained down the impeachment crap figuring it would help their candidates.
Hah.
Now the dems are scared silly. They want to wrap up impeachment ASAP. They know this was a bad political move.....for THEM.
