Larimer County property owners have received phony notices vis U.S. Mail stating a lien has been placed on their property for non-payment of taxes.
The notice states federal tax authorities have placed a lien on their property for non-payment of taxes and will garnish wages and bank accounts, seize property or seize federal tax refunds to pay the debt, and to call a toll-free number --- to avoid enforcement.
...
the letter is a fraudulent scam, to disregard the notice and also contact local law enforcement. The federal government does not collect local property taxes, nor does it have authority to engage in or enforce local property tax collection
...
The notice also states it is from the Tax Processing Unit in Larimer County, Public Judgement of Records, when in fact, no such entity exists.

Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Does the letter give an address so someone could go “talk” to the scammer? Or just a P.O. box?
I had that same thought. A dead scammer is a public service.
mail fraud pure and simple
The criminals want you to call a toll-free number -— to avoid enforcement.
Mail Fraud?
Juicy Smolliere?
Probably an out of country #
I’m not in Colorado, but I’ve been getting scam telephone calls every few days. The caller is a computer generated voice, which talks about some judgement that’s been filed against me in some court somewhere, and if I don’t touch “1” on my phone to speak to an operator, I will be subject to arrest and imprisonment.
The calls are to my cell phone, and I seldom answer calls from unknown callers. These calls have been coming from all over the western U.S., a different city each time.
My favorite scam phone call of all time was when I was at work in Maryland in 2010. Caller ID said that the call was coming from my home phone number!
This is true for all tax scams. Don’t call a telephone number or respond to an email. Tax authorities don’t work that way.
