“In KY voters are historically Democrat but theyre conservative.”
Ain’t called “Kentucky windage” for nothing!
"Theyve turned their lives over to the tyranny of the wealthy political class willingly."
Yes, and they are too intellectually and morally lazy to admit to themselves that the wealthy political class is inherently self-serving, ambitious, power hungry, manipulative, tyrannical, and parasitic.
It has become a cliché that Marxism produces a privileged ruling class lording in luxury over a huge mass of oppressed peasants or slaves. Clichés tend to become tired and overworked because they are true.
Maybe intellectual and moral sloth is the evil most fundamental to decadence. I have thought it was contempt for truth-truth for its own sake--but maybe contempt for truth results from intellectual and moral laziness.
Ulysses arranged to experience everything, even the songs of the sirens, but he refused to experience the lotuses when he visited the land of the lotus-eaters. He knew that he would be lost in its pleasure and amnesia. Millions in America were not so wise.
Oedipus and Jocasta refused to admit the truth to themselves. The result of their hubris and denial was great tragedy.
How ironic that Western Civilization should begin and end with prophetic tales of foolish behavior, hubris and denial, and tragedy!
Absolutely agree.
I bitterly resented being given only those two alternatives and since that time I have not given 1 red cent to the GOP. Meanwhile I am enrolled in monthly donations to President Trump.
People in Kentucky that voted Republican and didn’t vote for Bevin need to ask themselves what happened when President Trump asked Alabama to vote for Luther Strange and Alabamans decided to follow their own path to make a statement. We had one less vote in the Senate and legislation couldn’t get passed. President Trump’s mission got that much harder.
President Trump told Kentucky what he needed them to do but they wanted to make their point instead. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. Their Democratic Governor will demonstrate over the next few years just how stupid.
I see more more purple.
Good grief, stop being Debbie Downers!
And the universities are all liberal. We are making our kids liberal. This country is turning blue.
The Libertarian candidate took enough votes from Bevin to throw the race to the Democrats.
Sorry, but this is where the Libertarians can go to hell. Bevin may not have been a great campaigner....but he was a solid conservative.
The good for nothing Libertarians gave the governorship to a socialist.
There are FReepers here posting that they purposely didn’t for Bevin. They didn’t Vote for the Rat, they just left the Box blank.
They gave the Rat a Freebie. If people who Post on FR did this, why is it a surprise that Bevin had a tough Campaign?
POTUS Trump thought the guy was worth fighting for, warts and all and his efforts got Bevin 48%+ on Election Day when he was Polling at 30%.
I guess some people here didn’t agree with him, so I assume there won’t be any more dissing other Republican Lawmakers like Cruz and Graham who disagree with POTUS Trump from time to time. LOL
It was Bevins NOT Trump. Thanks for the posting the down ballot.
It was Bevins not Trump. Thanks for posting down ballot.
It was Bevins not Trump
The Libertarians bragged about hurting Bevin last night. 30,000 Votes went to them while Bevin lost by only 4,500.
As of now the results are too close to call so Bevin refused to give a Concession.
1.45 Million Votes were Cast in the Governor’s Race. I’ll bet there will be a recount with such a low margin of Victory.
There are also some Absentee Ballots out there from what I’ve read here, not to mention a whole bunch of questionable Votes being counted.
Bevin should act like that Fat Gap Toothed Black Commie Gal in Georgia, not giving an inch.
Since 1970 there have only been three Republican governors and all one term govs.
Wait until these same kids as they aged, and reality, become less blue.
Reality tends to make you over the course of less blue, more red.
And the universities are all liberal. We are making our kids liberal. This country is turning blue.

_We_ aren’t making them liberal. Even many of the so-called Christian colleges, not to mention private high schools have become bastions of the current culture. And yes: vast swathes of the country are turning blue.
There is no fighting the culture. We lost a Gen X adult child to the culture. Nothing we did, in the distant past or during the crises, made a difference. People want to fit in with their peers. People choose to consume specific music/games/internet, even paper books. People choose mates and colleagues and friends. As their numbers grow, they feel affirmed in their choices.
Now, they are *given* choices we never even considered, like what gender they are. They are made to feel empowered by such choices. These choices are offered by a consolidated culture comprised of just about everything public and social, including both amateur and professional team sports.
Blame Leviathan.
Blame those who made their own choices, regardless of what truths they can see for themselves. I listened to years of blathering justification that simply boiled down to :”Nothing bad is going to happen. The majority disagrees with you (parents). I am a competent adult living in the present and I will do as I see fit. I am in my prime. I am the future. Your paradigm is outdated.”
I know others who have experienced similar results with their own children, including people who, IMO, made no errors in their own lives or in raising their children. Successful people from strong families anyone would admire, if not envy. People who walked their talk and were firm in their faith and values. People who were not prudes or bigots or tyrants.
We went through a phase of blaming specific entities and people and ourselves. We spent years analyzing and second-guessing our past behavior. But really, we were just overwhelmed by the culture.
The culture always wins.
Bump
This is the best the Republicans have done in a state election in Kentucky in many decades. It was a massive red wave. Bevin didn’t ride it.
“I am in my prime. I am the future. Your paradigm is outdated.”
The culture has brainwashed and branded these words in the minds of the younger generation. They are just waiting for the “old ones” to die off.
About 5 years ago I had a side job and heard this same attitude in the 20-40 year olds when discussing older customers they came in contact with. It really troubled me. Made me think there’s rising a whole generation of really stone-cold hearts.
Thankfully, not all of the younger generation feels this way. But most likely the majority do. Other countries still honor their elders; Hollywood and the music industry have made sure American culture does not.
