I believe in Maine, a Republican who received the most votes, but not the majority, lost the election using this system.

Neither the GOP guy or the dem challenger received 50.1% of the vote, so they counted the second choice of the voters who cast their initial vote for the two minor candidates on the ballot, liberals Tiffany Bond, who didn’t even live in the 2nd ditrict district, and William Hoar.
These two minor candidates combined received 8% of the vote. Most of their voters chose democrat Jared Golden as their second choice, and Golden was declared the winner.
Most people, such as myself, voted for only one person.
