Cisneros secured endorsements from progressive high profile “Squad” members Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.) and Ocasio-Cortez.
Out of district money should be illegal. It dilutes the actual representation. A district rep is supposed to represent that district not others. Why not allow out of district people to vote there?
This should be fun watching Cisneros get gob smacked by Cuellar.
I believe that the biggest threat in the political arena today arises in campaign funding. My solution, which will never be implemented, is as follows:
US President: Since this position represents the USA as a whole, USA entities/USA citizens from anywhere in the USA should be free to donate to a candidate.
US Senator: These individuals represent a particular state, only entities incorporated in the candidates state and USA citizens residing in that state should be allowed to donate to the candidate.
US Representative: These individuals represent a particular district of a state and as such only entities incorporated in and USA citizens residing in that district should be allowed to donate to the candidate.
I would also limit funding at the state and local levels to the same type of restrictions. The idea of funding the campaign of a candidate representing the 3rd Congressional District in another state by an entity/individual from NYC or anywhere other than the subject district is simply ridiculous!!
