“Students in different parts of the country have different educational needs and skill development. To compare America’s students achievement scores as a whole to that of another country’s is ridiculous...”
Educational needs???
How so? The study of math and science is the same universally and is not malleable to the “needs” of those who study it. Education cannot be geared to assuaging the wounded mentality of students.
When the Chinese send a rocket into space, they use the same math and physics that American scientists use.
“Educational needs”
Different students learn in different ways and are also at different levels of cognitive development. Schools need to try to meet the needs of all students the best they can. Some students are visual learners others are process (doing) learners. Students enter school and each grade with a different set of skills and knowledge. A teacher has to take these students and teach them in ways so all achieve and obtain knowledge and skills. There is no curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
