Smugglers in Mexico are SAWING through sections of Trump's 'virtually impenetrable' border wall (tr)

Smuggling gangs in Mexico have continuously sawed through President Trump’s controversial border wall using every day power tools, according the U.S. agents and officials with knowledge of the incidents.

The security breaches, made with a popular cordless reciprocating saw that can sell for less than $100, has been used to open gaps large enough for people and drug loads to filter through.

When fitted with 'specialized' blades, the tool can break through one of the wall's steel and concrete bollards in just minutes.

The Washington Post reports that after slicing through a bollard, smugglers will push the steel out of the way, allowing an adult to fit through the opened space.

“The idea of any wall is to delay until officers can get there.”

Any security expert will tell you that. There is no such thing as an impenetrable barrier. They exist to deter and to slow down the more determined until the enforcers arrive.

I wonder if they have monitoring equipment with those walls. Cameras, sensors, etc. I thought they were supposed to part of the package.

The purpose of walls is not to create a dam to keep all the water in, just to slow down how fast outsiders can enter and leave. This was true with Hadrian’s wall and the Great Wall of China.

We cannot *stop* illegal immigration, but we can slow it so much that it has far less negative effects on us, allowing us to shift resources to more productive ends.

So put some of that Homeland Security budget money into permanent manned stations every 100 yards along the border wall.

"Man, I’ve been preaching landmines for the past 10 years here on FR and they dont want to listen.."

Remember that ONE picture of an unfortunately drowned illegal holding his baby? And the brouhaha the media had blaming Trump for the demise of said illegals? Now think of the field day the press would have if the same picture was of the illegal blown to bits by one our landmines.

That's why no landmines.

I can Not find a picture of the breach.

IF this was true, a reporter would have a picture, a bystander would have a picture. The picture would be shoved in the President’s face to the delight of the Left and the media!! Even a damn phone pic would have been taken!

No picture = Not true. It’s lie. Washington Compost.

I’m good with landmines. Also alligator-filled moats, yeti, and Tyrannosaurus rex.

Anyone saw that video of Trump at the border , the most recent one, where he signs the wall with a Sharpie? I know it’s more than 30 minutes long but he ACTUALLY SAID that he WONT ELECTRIFY the wall like other countries because “we’re not like that”...

You mean we can add that nice feature to the wall? Why didnt we?
