Known as the Iron Scow, the barge is the site of a historic rescue in 1918
Strong winds and rains during Thursday night's storm have moved the historic iron scow at the top of Canada's Horseshoe Falls, which had been stuck in the same place for more than 100 years and now, it's closer to the edge.
In a press release, Niagara Parks said that the deteriorated dumping scow, which is similar to a barge, used to be lodged in the upper rapids above the falls, but has shifted down river.

Can’t wait for the video of it going over the edge.
Imagine this .. a non-political story !
How refreshing :-)
Global warming. Sea level rise. Weaker ice. More storms. Trump.
Get ready for the “reasons”
It looks more like a half a scow.
Nothing lasts forever.....the braindead will blame climate change for the move.
Greta Thunberg mentioned this possibility in her UN speech. If I remember correctly, she said that Climate Change would would eventually cause old barges to move.
Don’t they have people who collect scrap metal up there?
And If something isnt political then make it political.
“The scow is an iconic part of any visit to the Falls.”
When we went there when I was little, the barge was one of the most interesting things. Maybe “Mysteries Of The Abandoned” will do a segment on it. (Hard to believe it moved.)
One by one, Climate Change is destroying all of our sacred scows.
oh yeah! get the drones out!
Good one!
......Sea level rise.
The Great Lakes go through a 30 year cycle of rise and fall. They are at a peak right now. Not sure how that plays out at top of falls as far as height but but it has to mean more flow going over.
At the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone there is a huge boulder at the top of a waterfall. There are images over the years that show it getting closer and closer to the edge.
Hint - the boulder isn’t moving - the waterfall is. The bedrock is eroding.
(Even those wise old Indians had it wrong - “Only the rocks live forever”.)
I was there and never knew about it. I was too busy looking for busted barrels, I guess.
I get up...I get down...
“Greta Thunberg mentioned this possibility in her UN speech. If I remember correctly, she said that Climate Change would would eventually cause old barges to move.”
The scow should be renamed the “Greta Thumberg”. Then when it goes over the falls no one will care.
In the comments section -
Some moron states that the barge should be ‘blown up’ in order to allow the parts to ‘flow’ downstream & be collected..
I’m sure iron plates will ‘flow’ quite readily downstream....duh.
Another product of a truncated education.
