House approves legislation setting up rules for impeachment inquiry

Update: Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives secured enough votes on Thursday to pass legislation setting up the next steps in the fast-moving impeachment process involving Republican President Donald Trump.

The vote is the first formal test of support for the inquiry that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched on Sept. 24. The impeachment inquiry focuses on whether Trump pressured Ukraine into helping him in his 2020 re-election campaign, a charge the president denies.

Previous report:

WASHINGTON - U.S. lawmakers will cast the first vote on Thursday in the impeachment investigation of President Donald Trump as the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives takes up a measure that sets up the next steps in the fast-moving effort.

The vote will be the first formal test of support for the inquiry launched on Sept. 24. Democrats, who control 234 seats in the 435-seat chamber, need a simple majority to approve the resolution.

The measure calls for public hearings and the release of transcripts from closed-door proceedings. It also outlines what rights Republican lawmakers and Trump himself would have to participate as the process moves ahead.

Yep. It’s all about a race against time to deflect from what’s going to come out from the IG report then the Durham criminal investigation along with the wrong done against Flynn.

The purpose is to say ‘ok so what if the Obama administration did Trump and his associates wrong, he’s still corrupt to the core and see here he would have done something wrong anyway’

To me, the dems have a duel purpose here.
One is throwing a bone to their base. If they did nothing, they would have some constituents pretty angry at them for not doing something.
Also, this is a Hail Mary pass that might very well cost them big in 2020. However, they can hope to keep digging to find something to hang around Trump’s neck. Good luck with that.
Besides with the great economy and the accomplishments in the Foreign Arena, they were going to lose the coming election, anyway.
The dems are bleeding voters.. Blacks, especially are beginning to see the truth of the matter.

The slimy media on every channel is already spiking the ball, pushing the lie that now that a vote on impeachment has been held, Bad Orange Man and the Deplorables should now shut up their bitching since it is now 'official'. Lunatics.

What “High Crime and/or Misdemeanor” are they accusing the President of? What did Trump do that is illegal?

You'll have to check each morning to find out for that particular day. Like fresh fish catch of the day at a restaurant.

Fist Jerry Nadler (pre-Ukraine!) was setting it up without any cause. We thought it was the Mueller Report, no, wait, the first phony whistlebower, no the second one for sure. Something to do with Rudy. No. Now, ....oh come back later. Schiff will tell us later.

All BS. Just out of pure hatred.

Schiff’s “blow job” soy boy obiwonkenyobi holdovers aren’t blowing whistles— they are “fluffers” (in the porn industry lingo) for Schiff’s fabrications.

Please, Trump— drop the hammer, a little bit more— drip drip drip.

National Press Club— Brennan?... holy deep shite state, they think they RULE us. Loading the trucks and vans and heading their way. Millions of people.

The LAW had better be enforced.

Due process is out the window.
Prosecuting traitors needs to happen now or we are done.

there are no high crimes

there are only “feelings”

sinking feelings, bad feelings, insulted the president interfered in someone’s little policy kingdom feelings

hurt that 60 million people voted for someone they didn’t like feelings

But none important enough to cancel their 12 day holiday

It’s up to the Senate to derail the runaway train.

There is, of course the Constitutional 2nd Amendment. And large numbers of Constitution defenders in our, shall we say— gendarmes, civilian and military. Observe the fine points of this unfolding. The dhims have no idea— or rather, the hair on the back of their necks is standing up, and their ears hear the guillotine blade sliding down (illustrative lingo, of course).

Trying to win again. Even though the phone call had nothing to do with that, it's their story and they're sticking to it.

Although I did not listen to the debate, I am willing to bet that not one Republican used the debate to publicaly identify the so-called whistle-blower and his connections to Shifty, Obama, Biden, Brennan, and the deep state. Would have been a perfect opportunity.

The Republicans need to constantly use words like “unprecedented”, “illegitimate” and “due process” to delegitimize this process.

See what these commies are doing is democratic. When the senate says stuff it the media will report it was a political party line vote.

"Doesn’t legislation mean that it has to pass the Senate and then get signed by Trump?"

No, just a House resolution on how to conduct their witch hunt. It wasn't a House floor vote for Impeachment. This means nothing other than CYA for the coming election. This will drag on through 2020 elections and I firmly believe will hurt the dim/socialists.

That's part of the truth. But another reason is to smear Trump, via media propaganda, either about passage of a vote for articles of impeachment, or if that fails, whatever their "inquiry" comes up with.
