Congresswoman Katie Hill Resignation: What Happens Next?
Santa Clarita News ^ | October 28, 2019 | Devon Miller

After the resignation of Congresswoman Katie Hill on Sunday, questions have been raised about when the election is set to be held to vote for the next representative for the 25th District.

The countdown to a special election starts when Hill hands in the official resignation to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. As of Monday afternoon, the speaker’s office has not confirmed the proper paperwork has been submitted, according to Joseph Costello, spokesperson for Pelosi.

The Special Election Governor Gavin Newsom has 14 days after the resignation to name the date for the special election, according to the California Elections Code.

The next slated election, the primary on March 3, is within the 140-day window for a special election to fill a vacancy in the office of the representative in Congress, according to the code. That window could be extended to up to 180 days to consolidate the special election with the existing primary, according to the election code.

If one candidate receives a majority vote in the special primary, they are expected to be declared elected, and no special general election shall be held, the code reads. However, if no candidate receives a majority of votes cast, “the names of the candidates who receive the highest or second-highest number of votes cast at the special primary election shall be placed on the special general election ballot,” according to the election code.

The Resignation Hill resigned following an ethics violation investigation announced last week. In a statement, Pelosi said, “Congresswoman Katie Hill came to Congress with a powerful commitment to her community and a bright vision for the future, and has made a great contribution as a leader of the freshman class. She has acknowledged errors in judgment that made her continued service as a member untenable.

What happens next ? The next pre-selected Stalinist Demonrat will be “elected” to the seat regardless of the voters preference. Like how Hill was selected and installed in 2018.

It’s just hard to believe a female commie RAT from californication resigning just because she’s a hot lezzie nyphomaniac. Those credentials should have made her eligible for Speaker! /S

However, if no candidate receives a majority of votes cast, “the names of the candidates who receive the highest or second-highest number of votes cast at the special primary election shall be placed on the special general election ballot

The GOP could run two Republicans against a wide-open slate of Democrats and come in 1st and 2nd.

“Papadopoulos to Run for Katie Hill’s Seat, Source Says”

The timing may just work out for him, if the IG Report is in and Barr/Durham also get some indictments on the people who set him up.

Could be interesting...

She's now blaming "this coordinated campaign carried out by the right wing media and Republican opponents enabling and perpetuating my husband's abuse by providing him a platform is disgusting and unforgivable. And they will be held accountable."

Possibilities:

After the Resignation:

In a statement, (Ha, ha.) Pelosi said, “Congresswoman Katie Hill came to Congress with a powerful commitment to her community and a bright vision for the future, and has made a great contribution as a leader of the freshman class.

Well, if they're residents anywhere near the 25th district, Democrats Weinstein, Cosby, or Griffin come to mind as like-minded potential Democrat replacements for Democrat Hill.

True, there’s not one. However, at least 2 nude pics floating around, and other revealing pics. Maybe not all... but also not one.

Maybe she can travel around the country explaining the difference between “revenge porn” and your everyday porn to normal, non-politician type people.

Yes, it seems like demon rats 🐀 always consider sexual peccadilloes to be part of their job description, and a resume enhancer, unless it’s a pubbie, of course. It certainly didn’t hurt Bill Clinton, and he had a whole slew of sexual peccadilloes.

FTA: “As of Monday afternoon, the speaker’s office has not confirmed the proper paperwork has been submitted”

Par for the course for san-fran-nan. Might just as accurately state:

As of Monday afternoon, the speaker’s office has not confirmed the proper paperwork has been submitted ... for Senator Obama’s qualification to run for President in 2008.

The Governor cannot appoint a U.S. Representative. The seat stays vacant until there is a winner sworn in after a special election.
