Full title: Newt Gingrich: Pelosi announces Trump impeachment inquiry vote – Here's what I am on the lookout for now
Senator Lindsey Graham has created a new reality for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Graham has written a powerful resolution which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell joined in co-sponsoring. Together they have attracted 50 co-sponsors – which means with Vice President Pence supporting them they would win a vote to dismiss any phony impeachment from the House that failed to meet a key standard of fairness.
The resolution:
“calls on the House of Representatives, prior to proceeding any further with its impeachment investigation into President Trump, to vote to initiate a formal impeachment inquiry;
calls on the House of Representatives to provide President Trump, like every other American, with due process, to include the ability to confront his accusers, call witnesses on his behalf, and have a basic understanding of the accusations against him that would form any basis for impeachment; and
calls on the House of Representatives to provide members of the minority with the ability to participate fully in all proceedings and have equal authority to issue subpoenas and other compulsory process.”
Faced with this new reality, Speaker Pelosi suddenly ended months of avoiding a vote on the impeachment process and announced today that the House would vote this week.
As a practical matter, the House Democrats had no choice but to bring the impeachment process to a vote. They were faced with a Trump administration that refused to cooperate with a secret investigation which lacked rules and authorization by the full House. They were also faced with a Senate that was prepared to reject a kangaroo court-style secret approach.

The liberals will simply declare Trump guilty, vote, and send it to the Senate and declare Trump has been impeached.
They are communists and communists are little kids that think they don’t have to follow any rules and they make up the rules when they lose the game.
The house is NOT voting on an impeachment investigation. The vote being held is another cynical move by Lawfare / Pelosi to create the impression of impeachment, but without any due process.
The House is attempting to compel the White House to give it documents and access to people violating Executive Privilege that the House has no right to have. The House is attempting to negate the separation of powers.
Let me guess....RINO Romney is the one who is not co-sponsoring.

That being the case then, Pelosi and Dems did not honor the precedent of due process in the supposed inquiry.
Could not the Senate vote with a simple majority to dismiss the impeachment with a simple majority vote?
The House impeachment vote will be purely partisan and of course there will be no true examination of the evidence, cross examination of witnesses or any semblance of due process. The Senate will act and with cross examination and defense witnesses it will be obvious the House action was a partisan witch hunt. Democrat House members who vote for this sham impeachment especially in districts who voted for Trump will lose big in the 2020 election. Nancy Pelosi has lost control and embarked on a dangerous political gambit with no end game strategy.
Many reports in the media, including this article by Newt, think Pelosi said she was going to have the full House vote on authorizing a formal impeachment inquiry.
That is not what she said.
All the House members will be voting on is to bring ShifftyEyes' super secret, star chamber tribunal out of the Capitol basement and continue it into the light of day.
The vote on Thursday will not authorize a full, formal impeachment inquiry proceeding.
If Pelosi did that, it would collapse their secret impeachment scheme. Trump and the Republicans would be able to call witnesses and cross-examine others. Pelosi knows the previous votes for impeachment in the House have failed and she is not going to risk that happening here.
This is just another sleight of hand by Pelosi to make the illegitimate appear to look legitimate. Trump and the GOP members will not be allowed to participate any more than they have been up until now. It is the same old, same old.
Good job educating us Newt. And Lindsey for doing something right for once.

Dems are like dead men walking. What’s become apparent is that Democrats are so desperate for power AND control.
They have no clue that voting America waiting for the next Trump rally can smell them miles away.
In the Democrats’ rancid world, they keep saying “words”, that they hope will wound a president they despise.
The Dems will savagely strip innocent patriots of their rights in order to feel the thrill of controlling people.
For the Dem left, a little crotch action will always supersede the Constitution.
Patriots know these sub-human morons will stoop to any lengths and will regurgitate the most preposterous lies to advance their pathetic political ambitions.
The left fights hard for “rights” not even mentioned in the Constitution – abortion, health care, a “free” college education – than those intrinsic rights specifically singled out for protection from government infringement in the Bill of Rights.
Lefties are desperate for power. Desperate Democrats badly crave power AND control, and they’re willing to do anything to get it.
I bet not. I have slightly more faith in the Senate than I do the House, and that's not saying much.
This is a subject that Newt is expert in and so I read it with determination.

I hope they push this through today with VP Pence breaking the tie so that if/when the House sends over Articles of Impeachment, the Senate will dismiss their impeachment from going forward. And I note Senator McConnell is on-board with it which removes whatever cloud hung about him regarding the inevitability of a Senate trial.
