Trump’s Brilliant Syria Strategy Fooled Everyone
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | Oct 28, 2019 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: You know, Trump did not tell any Democrats — and you know what’s fascinating, folks? If I may add. There are four reporters — and I don’t remember all their names. Maggie Haberman is one from the New York Times, and there’s another one at the New York Times, Schmidt, maybe. There’s a couple from the Washington Post. And these four reporters are the primary reporters of leaks.

And so they have accrued great reputations as having inside knowledge right inside the Trump administration. They’ve got sources in the Oval Office. And not a one of those four reporters had any advance knowledge of the military attack on Baghdadi, and this thing had been in the planning stages for weeks and, in fact, you want to hear something brilliant? Not brilliant from me. You get me being brilliant every day. No, a brilliant strategy here.

The announcement of withdrawing troops from Syria was part of the strategy to set ’em all up! And it worked! Look at all the people that fell in line. Every predictable Never Trumper Republican, every RINO Republican and every Democrat and the entirety of the media fell for it hook, line, and sinker. The Never Trumpers especially, they just couldn’t contain themselves, writing about how Trump was turning over Syria to ISIS. By pulling the troops out, he was veritably handing Syria to ISIS. He was the epitome of incompetence. He was the epitome of a joke.

The Never Trumpers were out saying that this move by Trump proved everything they had ever been saying about his unfitness and lack of qualifications. And it was all a setup. Announcing the troop withdrawal — we’re talking 50 American troops, advisers. But that was part of the strategy. It was part of the setup.

The execution of Baghdadi is a very good thing but the idea that Trump was just blowing smoke about getting us the hell out of Syria and other foreign wars so we’re going to continue being the world’s policeman is a very bad thing. The biggest applause Trump got at his recent rallies was when he said no more foreign wars. It would be a serious breach of faith with his base to go full neocon particularly now that he needs support to fight the Marxocrat impeachment farce.

to continue being the world’s policeman is a very bad thing.

In a large way I agree with you, with a qualifying distinction.

There is a vast difference between killing a monstrous terrorist using a special ops force, and embroiling us in another long, drawn out conflict.

I get it that people are tired of war after the last 18 years. I was in the military as a career officer of part of that time period, and trust me, we got plenty tired of it as well. Endless deployments to these Godforsaken Muslim hell holes. The death of friends and comrades. The destruction of our family life.

However, a large measure of what makes our nation rich, successful, and powerful is because our military can do things that no other nation can do.

Our financial success, our prestige, our power - is backed up by the men and women of the military.

Trump can use that power selectively, and smartly. The war hawks who got us into Afghanistan and Iraq to "nation build" are disgusting human beings.

Trump is never going to take that bait.

Yes, Rush is near the mark but not quite over it. Trump does think in more than one dimension and this operation was a way of killing tow birds with one stone.

Get out of endless wars and keep a promise.
Silence critics by bagging Baghdadi.

The looks and expressions of Lindsey Graham at a press conference discussing his reversal are priceless.

And to think that any serious member of Congress would have a thought to impeach this President.

Ludicrous.

God Bless our military.
The only part of government I think is necessary.
The rest of DC can rot. ...Except President Trump of course.

There is a scene in the movie In Harm's Way where the John Wayne character, an admiral, says that a particular mission didn't go as planned. His superior, who hasn't been following the mission, starts intoning on how things never go as well as we would like, when Wayne interrupts to say that in this instance, everything had actually gone better than planned, making his superior look like a fool. I thought of that scene when watching the enemies of Trump floundering in the face of his Syrian success.

Not telling the anti- American commies makes perfect sense. They’d just leak the battle plans to their bff Muslim terrorist comrades. The same way Obama did It’s too bad but they are in congress and THIS is our first problem. Remove and/ or imprison the commie- Nazis/ islamonazis traitors and seditionists and Elect honest loyal trustworthy Americans of any political bent and then pdjt or any president will be able to trust them and congress will start working again

The biggest applause Trump got at his recent rallies was when he said no more foreign wars.

How about domestic ones?

Are there going to be LESS foreign wars?

Trump is not as dumb as they say. He actually plans things. He’s still going to get out. He has basically told us that he wants to negotiate a deal for the oil. He’ll get U.S contractors from Exxon etc to have good deals there and he will turn it’s defense over to SDF &/or Russia. No one even listens to the guy. They just think he makes rash decisions. Actually, he’s the only one who seems to think things through first

And then Trump took control of the Syrian oil fields which has the Russians and the Iranians freaking out right now...no more secret oil “siphonings” by terrorist groups to fund their activities. I’m sure when the Syrians are ready, Trump will let them take their oil fields back.

Trump is brilliant.
We do, however, need to keep everything secret. It would please me if Mr. Trump never told the press anything at all. Contrary to what they say, they have no need to know anything.

Brilliant, but it implies that Trump had the goods on Bagdadi BEFORE he pulled out. It took some planning to get the men trained for the mission and he didn’t pull the trigger until he knew where the toad was and that he was going to get him (Bagdadi, not Schiff).

Right-you approach the ‘vermin’ problem differently than you would deal with armed robbers.
