I am a former boy scout. Life (one step short of Eagle) and order of the arrow.

I was very happy with my experiences with BSA, but I completely understand everyone’s complete revulsion with what Mitt Romney and others, have done to the formerly great organization.

My son became an Eagle Scout in 2015. But his best friend’s dad was one of the troup leaders so we felt pretty safe.

I’m glad he got it when he did and when it still meant something.

Same here. Made Life Scout and Order of the Arrow. Then I aged out of the Scouts. Never made Eagle. Still regret that. I don't regret the experiences with the Scouts, though. My highlight was a week on horseback with my troop at Philmont Scout Ranch.

I was involved in Scouting as well. Order of the Arrow too. Very good experience while I was in. It helped me grow into a man.

There were organizational problems in my troop which is why I left prematurely, however. Very poorly managed. We would have never gone to Philmont.

My whole family were Scouters when I was growing up. My parents were leaders and myself, my brother (Boy Scouts) and sister (Girl Scouts) would spend our vacations working on scouting skills and earning merit badges.

My brother and I made Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. We were also Explorer scouts.

When I had my own family, I was a Boy Scout leader and my wife was a Girl Scout leader. Our son became an Eagle Scout. I stopped being a leader when our son went off to college.

But when the Boy Scouts of America announced they were allowing gay scouts and then later, gay leaders, into the organization, that was it for me. I sent my Eagle Scout award back to them and told them I was done.

I also told them that what they had done to the once venerable scouting movement in the US was disgusting and would lead to its eventual demise. I stopped my annual donations and walked away from the organization that had given me the most rewarding experiences of my young life.

What upset me the most was that the Supreme Court had already ruled that they didn't need to open their ranks to gays scouts or leaders. They did it anyway. If I recall correctly, this was under the leadership of Robert Gates, George W. Bush's second term Defense Secretary, who became president of the BSA. Gates also served under Obama.

It was only a matter of time before the LDS church participation in the scouting movement was severed. This was the straw that broke the camel's back.

The Girl Scouts also took a down turn into the depraved by promoting lesbian ideals among it's young members.

It is by no small coincidence that both of these organizations have been destroyed by the liberal Left in this country, who are toxic to anything they touch.
