MEXICO CITY, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Police found more than 40 skulls, dozens of bones and a fetus in a glass jar next to an altar in the den of suspected drug traffickers in Mexico City during a raid this week, authorities said on Sunday.
Four of the skulls were built into the altar in the central Tepito neighborhood, where police arrested 31 people on Tuesday on suspicion of drug cartel activity, the city government said in a statement. A judge ordered 27 of the suspects released.
A photo distributed by the Mexico City attorney general's office showed skulls clustered around the altar, which had a cross behind it adorned with a horned wooden face mask.
To the right of the altar was a painted wall full of symbols that included a pyramid topped with a hand, celestial bodies and the head of a goat with a hexagram between its horns, according to photos of the room published by local media.
In front of the wall stood a variety of objects, including dozens of wooden sticks with colored markings.

These wacky Mexican skull thingys are becoming very popular in the U.S. More cultural appropriation by the gringos.
Aztec descendants?
And that's why abolishing ICE is such a great thing to do.
I saw the sickest video I ever seen in my life last week on that documenting reality website of this Mexican drug gang torturing a guy to death. I can’t even describe it its so gross, but let me say it involves a pitbull. Just one video out of many on that site. These Mexican drug gangs make ISIS look like Teletubbies by comparison, and we don’t need a wall? We need a wall, and barbed wire and a moat and the military on the border with tanks and mines and rocket launchers with orders to obliterate anyone who even thinks of coming near our border from Mexico. These are not human beings, these are devils from the lowest bowels of hell walking on earth.
In front of me at a Food City (Hispanic leaning supermarket) a lady customer had several votive candles with skulls in her cart. Bad stuff.
Dia del morte is coming up.
The Progressive Left dislikes Christopher Columbus and the Spanish Conquistadors. But it’s good to remember that this sort of thing was endemic in much of the New World. The Europeans were horrified to see the practices of the Aztecs and other peoples. The judgment of the Europeans at the time matches your judgment today: “These are not human beings, these are devils from the lowest bowels of hell walking on earth.”
Sounds like they are taking the Christian “All Souls Day” and trying to steer it back to paganism.
“ordered 27 of the suspects released”
The others didn’t have the bribe money?
Mexican cannibals ...Culture of Death...
That type of behavior was pretty much true with all the tribes. The Aztecs used the power of an organized society to do it on an industrial scale. Stone age societies do that sort of thing.
I earned a BA in Anthropology in the late 80s and they tried to drill ‘cultural relativism’ into my young, mushy head long before they did it to the general population. The brainwashing didn't take with me primarily because I was well aware of the disgusting and depraved practices surrounding human sacrifice by the mesoamerican cultures like the Aztecs.
As far as I am concerned any degree in humanities has devolved into Marxist indoctrination and those with those are to be avoided by all good people unless these victim graduated have proven themselves to be normal.
Strange remark, if you ask me...
Over 400 years of Hispanic oppression and their Aztec ways still persist.
Build the wall.
They are and this is not any exaggeration. The guy who runs that website told me the videos from Mexico are by far the most violent and vicious. Nowhere else do you get it on that level in such abundance even from the middle east. He has a few videos of ISIS killing, but nowhere near on the level of what is coming out of Mexico and without question these Mexican drug gangs are here in the USA. The media is completely covering up just how bad it is.
“and a fetus in a glass jar”
Oh, well probably just the local abortionist’s house. Nothing to see here, move along.
The Catholics are rightly upset about the pagan rituals that are being brought in by the Amazon synod, but the fact is, in Central and South America, there have been quasi-pagan elements practiced by the locals tolerated, or at least willfully ignored by the Catholic church for a long, long time.
