Nats owner says Trump has 'every right' to come to World Series game Sunday

Nationals principal owner Mark Lerner said President Trump has “every right” to attend Sunday’s World Series game in Washington to watch the Nationals face off against the Astros.

“Well, he has every right to come,” Lerner said in an interview with The Washington Post Friday. “He’s the president of the United States whether you like him or not. It’s a special event. He should be at it.”

The president will not throw out the first pitch of Sunday’s game, with the Nationals instead tapping chef, philanthropist and vocal Trump critic José Andrés for the honor.

“The first pitches are our call, and we felt there are many other candidates that should be considered before [Trump],” Lerner said. “We wanted to have the right people. I think we got a nice mix of people.”

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league spoke with Trump about throwing out a first pitch, but that Trump declined, citing concerns about causing delays for fans entering the stadium.

“We actually had a conversation with him about first pitches,” Manfred told The Post. “His view was that in order to make the fan experience as positive as possible, he would arrive at Game 5 sometime after the game began so it wouldn’t interfere with fans getting into the stadium. Quite frankly, we were very grateful for that.”

Remember, it was the Washington Post asking him about it. It’s likely they framed it as a huge negative, and that led to his answer. Read that way, it could be a big “are you ****ing stupid?” response to the reporter.

Wow! Compare and contrast Trump's attitude toward the average fan to that of Bathhouse Barry.

Disgusting, disrespectful comment by Lerner. He should have said it would be an HONOR to have the President come.

Off subject, but:

How many baseball fans outside of the D.C. area, all over the country, will be rooting for the Nationals and how many will be rooting for the Astros?

I saw Prissy Wallace at the game Friday night and almost puked. The sight of Juan Williams would have been even worse.

With the gross corruption, decay, and evil in D.C., it would be sickening for these media and political whores to be pleased over anything.

GO ASTROS

Trump doesn’t get nearly enough credit for being thoughtful and considerate about other people

Rush was talking about that the other day, and how most politicians just don’t understand normal people...

Did you see the DC Uniparty riff raff boo the president at Nationals Park? Like I said, most of those there owe their bloated livelihoods to swamp work and consider Trump a serious threat.

It appears some in MLB want the league to go the way of the NFL and NBA.

Such a mistake to side with socialists:Gillette,Nike,NFL.... During what's coming soon this will make them obvious supporters of the wrong side. All companies and sports should have stayed above the fray but they are so egomaniacal they couldn't stop themselves.

What a jerk the owner is. A little king thanks to taxpayer money. ALL the owners get free stadiums and all the parking money and tax breaks---one way or the other. Some outright, others as free land for condos and stores around the stadium.

Some owners are tricked into believing the hype from the media and social justice warriors, but they fail to discern how the fan base feels. At least we still have the NHL, they seem somewhat patriotic.
