Automatic emergency braking will be standard in most cars in 2022. The technology is expected to cut the number of rear-end crashes in half, but hundreds of drivers say sometimes the system slams on the brakes apparently for no reason.
CBS News found reports of several accidents and injuries that drivers blamed on false activations of emergency automatic braking systems. Safety advocates and carmakers say in the vast majority of cases it works, but it is not perfect.
For Cindy Walsh, getting behind the wheel of her 2018 Nissan Rogue raises her anxiety level. Since she bought the SUV new last October, she told CBS News correspondent Kris Van Cleave it has slammed on the brakes three times for no clear reason when she said there was no risk of a collision.
"The first one, I was driving down a four-lane highway going about 55 and it completely came to a complete stop," Walsh said. Now she said she's scared to drive the car, so she doesn't drive it.
Walsh took it to the dealer each time. Twice, she said, they told her they fixed it.

and completely
“But it doesn’t just release brake pressure on that one wheel. It releases it on all wheels to maintain uniform braking on all 4 wheels so that you don’t put the car into a spin. If one wheel is on a very sloppy surface, then the stopping power of the car is reduced to 4 x the stopping power of that one wheel. “
Each wheel has a sensor and control valve. It is referred to as a four-channel, four sensor system. Your explanation is incorrect.
The car shakes and vibrates like the wheels are falling off.
“and completely”
hmmm. Like you left out the part I quoted to you!
“The car shakes and vibrates like the wheels are falling off.”
LOL! What kind of car?
Talk about propaganda. You are delusional if you think it all comes down to that.
Now if you actually want to learn something based on facts:

Believe me, I know the facts.
The guy you sent the u-tube video on is talking about the second accident, the part I snipped is about the first accident. He is relatively correct.
There’s is more to the story, but the fact remains: if you want to be safe you want a real pilot in command behind the stick - and you want a good driver behind the steering wheel.
All of the ‘automated’ systems ALWAYS have failure modes that need a human in command to step in and save things. And I would NEVER trust self driving cars or autobraking with my life.
Until you get in an accident and they find the system was disabled.
Thanks for the tip, hadn't thought of that scenario. My new car has that automated adaptive cruise feature to maintain distance and stay in a lane. I've been afraid to use it, and now will definitely not use it. The steering wheel vibrates if I come up too fast on a car, but I know how to brake and don't trust the auto-braking feature.
I experienced heavy volume holiday traffic recently, couldn’t believe the weird braking going on. Must have been this autobraking garbage, there was nothing going on just heavy volume.

Radar ‘spoofing devices’ are illegal and do not make a car invisible. The ACC radar has a distinct signature and will nor recognize the signals from radar jammers.
“I experienced heavy volume holiday traffic recently, couldnt believe the weird braking going on.”
If you are referring to brake lights, just people coming on an off of cruise control.
“While in a new Suburban...”
The wife picked up a new Grand Cherokee last month, got everything but the hemi.
She now has to switch of 4 safety features (and 1 environmental) every time she gets in the car.
“She now has to switch of 4 safety features (and 1 environmental) every time she gets in the car.”
She doesn’t have to nor maybe she shouldn’t?
Cruise control never made everyone slow down within seconds to 30 mph multiple times! Cruise control is awful because it disengages people from actually driving, and it’s been around for a long time. But this was something else.

Then I have no idea why my car didn’t “see” the Camaro and tried to go through it as if it was not there....that was the only set of instances where it did that and i “played” with it a bit and gave it several tries w/o the Camaro ever registering as being in the way....never happened with any other vehicle....since when does something being illegal mean that nobody ever uses it?
They don't bother me that much but what I hate is the engine shutting off at every stop light. While it might save a few pennies in gas that savings will be more than offset by replacing starter motors.
“but what I hate is the engine shutting off at every stop light. “
We rented a mini-van with that. After a while I was modifying my braking so minimize the engine going off. Became second nature after a few hours.
I am curious what features have you fighting the wheel and brake pedal.
“Luddite ignorance”
I tend to think anyone who believes technology can save man fro himself is of childish ignorance.
The engine shut off can be turned off, but you have to do it at every start up. Otherwise after stopping you can take your foot off the brake, then quickly reapply, the engine will restart at release and will stay on.
The two major complaints she has is the auto braking at every intersection or parking lot and the auto wheel nudge and alarm when the car thinks your’e too close to the edge of the road. It’s equipped with that auto parallel park thing too. I’m guessing if that wasn’t on there she’d just get the alarm. She traded in her Prius on this Jeep so there’s a lot to get used to.
Frankly, other than the engine shut off, I haven’t noticed these things that much but I’ve only driven the thing a couple times. I’m generally on the Harley or if the weather is bad, in the Cayman.
