The International Federation of Professional Technical Engineers, a union which represents more than 80,000 workers in the private and public sector, slammed President Donald J. Trump's reported potential choice to lead the Department of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf. Wolf, the group asserts "is an unqualified flack for big business who has a terrible track record of putting corporate interests ahead of the needs of American workers."
In a statement sent to Townhall, IFPTE argued that Wolf "has no problem separating U.S. workers from secure and good-paying employment and driving down wages for U.S. engineers and other skilled workers" because of his support for "the deeply flawed H1-B visa program." As explained by the union, "H1-B visas, abused by companies like Disney, Pacific Gas and Electric and Uber, allow U.S. firms to replace U.S. workers with low-cost employees who come to the U.S. from overseas by falsely claiming a shortage of necessary skills and experience."
The group adds that Wolf is "is a longtime dweller of the very swamp that Donald Trump once promised to drain."
Indeed, both traditionally leftist organizations such as IFPTE as well as MAGA-hard liners -- those most supportive of President Trump's illegal and legal immigration policy -- argue that Wolf would not be supportive of President Trump's overall immigration plan.
According to political analyst Ryan Girdusky, many within the administration feel that Wolf would thwart Trump's agenda. Girdusky says that most MAGA supporters want acting United States Citizenship and Immigration Services director Ken Cuccinelli to be named head of DHS.
Girdusky first reported that Wolf was being considered for the job, while also noting that legal experts disagree whether or not Cuccinelli could be named DHS chief, acting or otherwise.
According to my sources, Trump has been warned he cannot tap Cuccinelli into the position because of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act... even though some experts disagree?? https://t.co/WcCZD6BJs6 Ryan James Girdusky (@RyanGirdusky) October 20, 2019
Who the heck is Wolf? Never heard of the guy.
Engineers Union?
Malcontents union. I never met a union engineer
Oh. Like the 60 foreign policy experts who unanimously signed a letter saying Trump would be a disaster at foreign policy? Yeah, there’s always some butt-hurt renegade out there who wants to play harpie for the media.
Technical engineers ... whatever that means. They are also in the private and public sector . So what percentage is in each?
(I think they are Janitors)
The International Federation of Professional Technical Engineers
Janitors???
According to their website, the IFPTE represents over 80,000 women and men in professional, technical, administrative and associated occupations in the United States and Canada.
The members work for federal, public and private employers, and work in various occupations such as auditors, drafters/designers, engineers, judges, lawyers, researchers, scientists, and technicians to name a few.
They want a “union flack” not a “big business flack”
Like back in the Obama days....
He’s obviously a bad choice. I hope President Trump thinks it over before he chooses him.
Agreed. The few industrial engineers I’ve known who did anything with unions were classified as management and hated by the unions because they did time studies.
Unless you’re driving a train or subway, the odds that an engineer are unionized is in the single digits and approaching zero.
