So let me see if I understand this. California has a law that says the power company is liable for any damage their facilities cause regardless of the reason. So in order to mitigate their liability the power company shuts off the power when conditions are such that their equipment might cause a fire. Then the State of California says the power company has to pay their customers for the inconvenience of having their power shut off. Hmm. If I were PG&E i’d hand the keys to the office to Gov Newsom and say, “Here ya go wise guy, you run the f*ckn place now”

You forgot the part that goes after than....then Gavin Newsom signed a law requiring the power companies to do Public Safety Shut offs.

No one mentions that. I’m not a fan of PG&E but they are following Gavin Newsom’s law.
