Anxiety rises among Democrats worried about party’s prospects in 2020

When the 2020 Democratic presidential contest kicked off earlier this year, the massive field was hailed as the most diverse in history, with candidates who spanned the ideological spectrum and offered enough in a broad buffet of options to excite any voter. But after 10 months of campaigning and 15 hours of nationally televised debates, another emotion is rising: anxiety.

Party leaders and activists are citing weakness in all of the leading contenders, including former vice president Joe Biden, who has been forced on the defensive about his family’s ethics, performed haltingly in debates and set off alarms with his poor fundraising. They also fret that the two other top-ranking candidates, Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), are too liberal to win a general election. Other candidates have had moments to shine, but none yet have fully transformed that into anything approaching momentum. […]

John Coale, a major donor to both Bill and Hillary Clinton, was more blunt. “They don’t have anybody who can win the general [election],” he said.

In conversations with 17 state and national party leaders, nearly all expressed some level of unease with where the field stands and a deepening concern that, even as Trump suffers through one of the darkest phases of his presidency, the leading presidential contenders would struggle mightily in a one-on-one contest with him. For all of his challenges, Trump commands a gigantic operation that has vacuumed up unprecedented sums of money, an unparalleled megaphone to lure in voters and a lock on most of the Republican Party. Democrats face the possibility of a long primary fight that could cleave the party along ideological and generational lines and leave the nominee campaigning against an incumbent whom Democrats see as simultaneously weak and hard to beat. …

… spanned the ideological spectrum

Yes, they did. From Bolshevism to Leninism to Marxism to Maoism and beyond!

...with candidates who spanned the ideological spectrum...

Old, white, and slightly to the left of Lenin. That's one hell of a spectrum. The freaks are only window dressing. It is fun to watch the media squirm around the obvious like worms on a hook, but it is what it is: embarrassing.

I hope the anxiety CRUSHES the stupid evil Rats, just destroys them. They will become more and more frantic, and make more and more mistakes.

In the meantime, support for Trump keeps building, and he continues to “vacuum up” unprecedented amounts of cash. It’s AWESOME !

The press wants her to run. They know unless trump is drummed from office he is a shoe in. If nothing else they get many clicks and huge ad revenues.

I just don’t think Hildabeast will throw her pants suit into the ring...I believe she is terrified of losing again.

That dark little doubt lurking in the back of what passes as her brain is enough to keep her on the bench.

The more they try to ‘destroy’ her, the higher her poll numbers.

All poll numbers are fake.

Hope you don’t venture into concern-troll territory.

Isn't every phase the darkest of his presidency?

This whole Hillary and Tulsi spat just gives Tulsi a leg up. I am surprised HRC wants to go there. Also, no way the Dems have Hillary step in at the convention. The other candidates aren’t going to just step aside, along with their supporters.

The Democratic party is now reaping what they sow. They have divided everyone into subcategories of special interest groups, which in turn only support those that support their special interest. So they have no one that everyone is going to get behind to promote their beliefs.

Their only hope is to find a minority lesbian or gay transvestite that hates Chrisitan, supports abortion on demand, offers free healthcare, free college, welfare for all, free housing, open borders, free everything.

Oh wait, he ran and won in 08 and in 12. So I guess that Michele is their only hope. FOTFLOL
