Pelosi is planning on ramming through an impeachment vote against President Trump by Christmas in the US House of Representatives. They have no crime defined but they are determined to find one in their secret meetings.
The US Senate would then take up the impeachment proceedings.
Tom Fitton says McConnell should reject this coup attempt outright.

Mitch does have to tread carefully. He is up for re-election here in Ky. in 2020.
Of course the left wouldn’t. That’s how they roll these days.
But, I believe McConnell will follow his career tendencies and attempt to appear to be “fair” by doing these things in an orderly fashion with the “blessing” of the minority.
No need to do it from our point of view, but that’s not how it works judging from recent history. McConnell doesn’t care what we think. He’s only concerned about covering their asses and squishy voters who are easily misled by the left.
That’s just how I see it I guess.

I believe that the entire government in D.C. is simply in it for themselves, and they will try to appease every possible voter to gain the upper hand come election time. That's their only concern, IMO.

I said he's neutral toward TRUMP. Trump, as we know and love, is a renegade independent who's dragging the Republican party and Washington DC to rule of law and serving the American people.
McConnell is not openly opposing Trump, hence my neutral comment, and he supports confirming judges. I'm not saying he's a great conservative, just a middle of the road party Republican. He won't collaborate with Schumer, but he WILL tell him the impeachment won't go anywhere.
No, I don't assume they're the most conservative judges, just better than what the Democrats would pick. The more we fill now, the fewer will be filled by any Democratic President.

True, but the big deal are the Federal judges and Supreme Court judges. I think McConnell is focusing his political capital on those.
McConnell is on the intel Gang of 8. Brennan has already said they were briefed on the spying against the Trump campaign. The last thing McConnell wants is a deep dive on this subject until the last minute possible before the election. At that point there will be tremendous pressure on POTUS and his supporters to play team ball and not rock the boat with an intra GOP fight.
I’m sure they’ll reference “precedence”, but I highly doubt they will pass up the opportunity to get as much camera face time as possible, as they always do, by stretching this out as long as possible, just like the Mueller nonsense.
Particularly the left, and I have little doubt that McConnell will deny them their attempts at self aggrandizement. He expects reciprocity in the future. If not for himself, then for those who follow. Isn’t that their nature, regardless of which “side” they’re on?

I think this is being misread. The GOP controls the senate and white house with a right leaning SCOTUS...and they want to disintegrate, commit political suicide?

Who is promoting bending over and taking it? I’m not for that, I’m stating that is exactly what they’ll do as a matter of course. It is their pattern, is it not?
The left may not have any problem running a Soviet style “Inquisition”, but that’s not the pattern from McConnell. I see him attempting to appease any and all, particularly voters that he needs to keep his party on top. I guarantee he will turn on President Trump in a heartbeat if he feels it is his best shot at keeping the right in the majority.
He has a different style in the legislature than Trump in the executive. He's being diplomatic, giving them time to hang themselves. Allow the Democrats to keep shooting themselves. But by meeting with Schumer, he also sends message to the House: "You follow through with this, I'll shut you down."
Realize this whole impeachment farce is helping the Republicans. The Democrats are divided and Pelosi is forced to unify with the most extreme members. This is not just about getting Trump re-elected, but also retaking the House and keeping the Senate while the Democrats self-destruct.
Look for McConnell and Schumer to come up with a secret vote on impeachment just like juries do.

IIRC, they are declassified and to be used by Barr as he sees fit, including release.
Also (to everyone having a meltdown): Trump tweeted earlier that there was good news coming out of Syria wrt to Turkey and the Kurds. Also, I saw an article (no time yet to read) that Turkey will not advance after the limited ceasefire.
Lots of thing are happening at once. Seems like maybe there will be more egg on more faces.
