Censure Schiff Dear Friends,
Congress is entering yet another week of impeachment hysteria with a fresh slate of secondhand witnesses. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle have sidelined all real legislative work, and Democrats are continuing to force this unauthorized impeachment inquiry behind closed doors.
Members of Congress take a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the Speaker of the House or the Chairman of the Intelligence Committee has sole power in an impeachment inquiry. That power belongs to the entire House, which is exactly why we need a full vote.
Let me be clear, the current process is a complete departure from precedent. The House voted to open impeachment inquiries into both President Clinton and President Nixon, respectively. Those votes were held in order to ensure that the minority party had rights, like subpoena power, during these investigations and to create a fair process. The American people deserve a process rooted in fairness, transparency, and facts. Thats not what is currently happening.
As a member of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, which is one of the three committees tasked with overseeing impeachment proceedings, I have sat through hours of depositions and transcribed interviews. With all of the current information I have before me, I do not believe that President Trump committed an impeachable offense or that there is any plausible reason for these hearings to be held behind closed doors.
If House Democrats were sincere in their intentions, this process wouldnt need to be shrouded in secrecy, and basic standards of due process would not have been denied. This isnt about a legitimate process. Its a political smear campaign, plain and simple.
Last week, I joined One America News to discuss the latest developments. I also encourage you to listen to the latest Freedom Caucus podcast with Congressman Jim Jordan as we discuss this partisan and unfair impeachment process.
Tonight, I will join my House Republican colleagues by voting in support of a measure to censure Adam Schiff. During a September 26th hearing, Adam Schiff took it upon himself to "parody" the transcript of the call between the President of Ukraine and President Trump perpetuating a false narrative and putting his disdain for our President above the facts.
Our democracy is not a parody, and it is alarming that an elected official would knowingly broadcast such fallacious information. His actions misled the American people, and it is clear that Chairman Adam Schiff cannot be trusted to run an unbiased investigation. He has shirked his responsibilities as Chairman, abandoned his duty as a Member of Congress, and forgotten his sense of fairness and justice throughout this charade. Now is the time for accountability.
This shameful political ploy cannot and should not go unnoticed, and that is why I will vote to censure him to discourage House Democrats from engaging in such deceitful tactics in the future.
Full resolution.
From my Congress critter.
I’ve heard Schiff was a prosecutor before going into Congress. Perhaps a review of all the cases he was involved with is in order.
Censutre?
Expel and prosecute.
Republicans. Remember. They lack balls and spine. Only the women have the courage.
Censorschiff
Better - Cut the Schiff out.
I am tired of this Schiff.
This Schiff stinks.
No Schiff!
Personally, I'd like to do MUCH MORE!
There is a coup of the House of Rep itself!
Wha5 is Barr doing? The GOP? Sleeping as usual
Turn Schift into the ethics commmittee for investigation like they did to Nunes.
