Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – In the wake of the release of a secret recording showing the Texas House speaker in a negative light, Dennis Bonnen will not seek reelection.
The Texas Tribune reports that as of today, over 30 House Republicans have either called for the speaker’s resignation or had stated they no longer supported him.
Bonnen has been under fire for months over allegations he planned to target sitting republicans in 2020.
In a statement, Bonnen said in part, “It is clear that I can no longer seek re-election as state representative of district 25, and subsequently, as Speaker of the House."
This hack should be run out of town on a cattle car.
If he had been a Democrat, that secret tape would have been a resume career enhancer.
Good riddance to Bonnen.
If the guy was a democrat, they would say he did nothing wrong.
If there’s a foul wind from some methane gas, republicans will turn on anybody.
Guy was worse Speaker than the one he replaced, who was a true RINO. See ya.

The Texas House is truly screwed up. What happens, is you have a bunch of Democrats get together with a bunch of RINOs who know that they can’t be elected if they run as democrats to elect the speaker. This is how Bob Strauss held the speakership for so long. It is also the reason we have so much difficulty getting decent legislation to move through the Texas house, because you have a RINO in charge of it.
It would be much better if that POS vacated that office right now.
