“The tropical fish hobbyists who get tired of their fish could just eat them instead of dumping them, and save everyone the trouble.”
they should just dump them in the back yard and let them fertilize the yard or feed the cats.

Anyone know if there is a bounty available on lion fish? Might actually be a business opportunity there if so....
No, but per the article, it sells for $5 a lb.

“Probably because Florida is the most tropical area in the U.S. Warm-weather critters can make a go if it there.”
The flora and fauna of North America is still recovering from the last ice age and that is the reason invasive species do so well there. There are so many ecological niches that are still left open that new feral species fill them rapidly. Native North American fauna has not had time to adapt fully to Florida and are often out competed by invasive species.

Sounds like an AI approach would be much better, faster, and would actually work.

For some reason, every invasive species seems to have gotten into the US through Florida.FLORIDA: It's not just God's waiting room any more.

But nooooooo! Nooooo! They gotta have mercy on their former pets, which would gladly eat them if they were big enough. Now they gotta design a special machine just to catch the little bass turds.

Or just do what I do. One day, you forget to clean the tank for a week straight, or overfeed your little darling, or forget to feed it, and it’s dead. And that’s that. And you don’t buy another one, because it’s too much trouble. Only a total a$$hole introduces a destructive species into the wild. I think somebody once introduced all the birds mentioned in Shakespeare’s works into the American wild. Almost all of them either starved to death or got eaten, like they were meant to, except this one species that multiplied like crazy, crapped up all the forests, making too much noise, and drove out all the indigenous birds. Shakespeare-loving a$$hole. Why not populate the Swanee with piranhas while you’re at it.
