They won the “popular vote” by running up the score in Alberta/Saskatchewan, very inefficient, it was a sweep in Saskatchewan, longtime liberal Ralph Goodale was defeated in Regina, that was nice to see. Of course almost 2/3s voted for the 4 socialist parties. Sickening to see em win the “popular vote” and finish 36 seats down.

To have any chance of governing it needed to be more Conservatives than Libs/NPD/Greens combined. It would be hard for Poodah to rely on the Bloc’s support. Greens got 3 BTW. Their leader is a psychopath American carpetbagger. This is a good thing, more vote splitting on the left, but it wasn’t enough.

Pretty crappy result, Poodoh is only 13 seats shy of a majority. Conservatives gained I believe fewer than 25 seats.

Reasons for the loss

Doug Ford’s government in ON is very unpopular and hurt the Conservatives in that critical seat rich province. Winning the provincial election may have cost them the national one.

The comeback of the Bloc in Quebec cut off their avenue for gaining seats there.

Freepers mocked Scheer for being “personally pro-life” but that may have been too much for Canadians, it’s not a socially conservative country.

Bernier took votes from them, but it’s unclear how many seats that alone cost them, not enough.

Best thing that can happen is the NPD forces Poodoh too far to the left and it backfires and the government falls in 2 years when they demand something he won’t give (say changing the voting system)

It’s not clear if Scheer will resign, he’ll likely be challenged.

It worked the same way in the United States, the reason Hillary won the "popular vote" nationally but only carried like 20 states is she won huge in places like California and New York, racking up millions and millions of "votes" there, especially with all the illegal aliens and dead people they have on voter rolls. It was a sweep in California. That skewed the numbers nationally even though the amount of overall places she carried was pretty poor. Take California out of the mix and Trump won the "popular vote" in the other 49 states combined.

Of course when you explained that fact to lefties howling about the "popular vote", they don't care.

I notice that not one of the lefties who went around having massive protest rallies and rioting because Gore & Hillary weren't installed as President are out denouncing the Trudeau regime as illegitimate and claiming his inauguration is a coup, or that Andrew Scheer is the "real Prime Minister" now.

Hypocrites.

I am frustrated at Canadian conservatives being very squishy compared to their U.S. counterparts, but I still consider them to be FAR better than what passes for "conservative" in old Europe (UK, France, Germany, etc.)

Compare Andrew Scheer or Stephen Harper to Euroweenies like Thresea May, Nicholas Sarkozy (supposed the "most conservative" French president in decades... I'd hate to see the least conservative one!), and Angel Merkel.

Being "personally against" abortion and gay marriage is one thing, the worthless European "conservatives" are openly FOR homo marriages, tree hugging, sucking up to Islamofacists, love anything and everything the EU does, etc., etc. Even "conservative" Boris Johnson is pretty much fine and dandy with all of that stuff aside from the EU itself.

Scheer seems decent in comparison to his EUROPEAN counterparts.
