Attempts to build a multicultural society in Germany have "utterly failed", Chancellor Angela Merkel says.
She said the so-called "multikulti" concept - where people would "live side-by-side" happily - did not work, and immigrants needed to do more to integrate - including learning German.
The comments come amid rising anti-immigration feeling in Germany.
A recent survey suggested more than 30% of people believed the country was "overrun by foreigners".
The study - by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation think-tank - also showed that roughly the same number thought that some 16 million of Germany's immigrants or people with foreign origins had come to the country for its social benefits.

You’ve got to do a bit more than that. You’ve got to allow the players to naturally separate into groups (maybe by race, by neighborhood, by grade level, whatever).
Give each group one football. Then tell each group that they are certainly the best group. And all those other groups, they have no right to even be on the field.
Then sit back and watch the fun.

As an anecdote I know from my nephew who is a BMW egineer that went to Germany for training. He took his family. His girls went to the American School. Although not segregated, there was an “American Community”
The EU wants exactly the opposite of what Trump wants. A one world Marxist-based government, where the government controls everything and the individual citizens are screwed.
Trump wants freedom and individual rights for the citizens to control their own lives.
Merkel is plain stupid if she bought into this mass immigration mess pushed by the EU. Anybody with a brain, can see that mixing a bunch of radical Muslims into the German population was going to cause problems.
Muslims don't change. Quite the contrary, they demand that everybody else change so they can live like they want. Not exactly assimilation material.
Ask all of those poor girls and women in Germany who have been violated and raped by these cretins. They could have told Merkel she was making a big blunder.
I have a friend who is German who comes to visit friends here in Florida once a year. We were at a get-tether last summer when one of the gals at the party made a statement that she loved Angela Merkel.
Well, he f*cking blew up at her. Told her in no uncertain terms that she didn't know what she was talking about. In fact, he said the German people hated Merkel for ruining their culture and country all because of these third-world Muslims she allowed into the country without any plan to assimilate them into the society.
It's too late for Germany, France, Sweden, England etc. to turn this mess around. Their birthrates and down for their native populations, while the birthrates for the Muslims has gone up. Before long, they all will be majority Muslim nations and nary a shot had to be fired.
It may be too late, but at last some of the Europeans are beginning to recognize this. For years, they have ignored facts because it disagreed with their theory.
It hasn’t done so well in the US, especially with immigrants from the ROP...
We were much better off as a “melting pot” than a “multicultural” society.
And so history records yet another instance of the abject failure of social experimentation by the liberal-elite, morally superior, virtue-signaling, white-savior-guilt-trippin’ utopia addicts. An addiction that has resulted in the needless deaths, rapes and emotional destruction of countless German youth. A disease that now ravages all of Western Civilization much to the entertainment of the rest of the world. Who all give thanks to Merkel, for tearing civilization apart in ways they could only dream about. What a stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid girl.
