Source to Fox's Chris Wallace : 'Chance' Senate GOP Votes to Impeach

There is a 20% chance Senate Republicans would be inclined to vote to impeach and remove President Donald Trump, a Republican source told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace.

Wallace told White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney during an interview Sunday that there seems to be some Republicans who, "if not breaking with the president – distancing themselves from the president."

"I talked to a very well-connected Republican in Washington this week," Wallace added.

"Somebody whose name you would know well, who says, that 'if the House votes to impeach and it gets to a trial in the Senate, there is now a 20% chance,' he believes – obviously it's just an estimate – now a 20% chance enough Republicans will vote with the Democrats to remove the president."

Mulvaney called the speculation "absurd."

"This comment about a 20% chance this person clearly doesn't know what they're talking about," Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney pointed to President Trump's unpopular move with Republicans on a troop withdrawal in Syria, suggesting they might bend on support for the president but they will not break because "eventually they have to go back home" to their Trump-supporting districts.

Fox News' Wallace has been famously anti-Trump, slamming his colleagues for supporting the president of the United States and reportedly attacking and mocking the president in private.

It’s Romney — or one of his ilk. But the GOP would be signing its own death warrant if they went to this...

...I think most of them know this well enough not to try.

The chance the Senate votes to convict is 0%

It would be the literal death of the Republican Party if they did this. A party that kills their own president doesn't deserve to exist. Millions would turn third party.

"I don’t trust a sodding single one of them."

They (feckless GOP) don't give any conservative a reason to trust them in the least.

So why do conservatives keep nominating RINOS?

And the Dems would argue that the results of the Democrat House in the 2018 election means voters want impeachment, conviction, removal, banishment, or prison.

Reading up on procedures for a Senate trial. Good news is President Trump can cal witnesses and cross-examine witnesses. Bad news is he can be impeached by a 2/2 vote of Senators PRESENT. If GOP Senators take the coward’s way out (and they will), 25 of them can arrange to be out of town on family business. Or the traitors can make sure they are detained.

That means only 75 Senators are present and 50 votes are needed to convict. That’s 45 Democrats, 2 independents and only 3 GOP Senators. Romney, Sasse and Murkowski.

Gotta keep up the illusion that the GOP might vote to remove him so the House will vote to impeach.

Neither will happen. Think about it. House would have to give Republicans subpoena powers, the public would see what has been going on and that would sink the whole operation.

Worst case, if they succeeded there would occur a hot civil war that would make Gettysburg look like a Boy Scout jamboree. Libs, regardless of their protective services, would find themselves getting a last smoke and a blindfold. Who's side do you think the military would join? Unfortunately Russia and China would benefit while the USA is weakened to the point of needing the last rites of what has now become an almost defunct Roman Catholic Church. JMHO

Couple of things. Not that it matters but this Conservative is not a member of the GOP. Second it really seems as if a great number of Republican rank and file aren’t all that conservative. And they vote for the lessor of two evils.

In my most humble opinion until, if ever, we (The People) find a way to end the death grip both political parties have on the Republic and follow through, the Republic will continue circling the drain at an ever increasing rate.

“Source” is made up for all we know. There’s a reason we have a Confrontation Clause. If someone won’t go on the record, they don’t exist and we are reading or hearing fiction.

But very unlike the Nixon case, any attempt to remove Donald J. Trump will lead to massive unrest. I’m not advocating it. Just a prediction of what the likely outcome would be if the votes of half the country were nullified by politicians in DC.

It was by no means a slaughter.

Not comparable. Democrats led both chambers of Congress when Nixon was President and they talked Nixon into a resignation.

Trump is never going to resign and if the Republicans vote him out they will essentially be committing politcal suicide. Millions would never vote for the GOP ever again. E V E R.

It would not matter how evil the Democrats are. Nobody is going to vote for a party that assassinates their own leaders. There is no redemption from it.

All Dem Senators and Sanders plus 20 GOP Senators would have to vote to convict and remove/impeach.

20% of 20 GOP Senators is 4 GOP Senators.

FOUR. Who are they?

Graham announced today he believes the President’s Syria policy can be successful. It’s safe to say he’s NOT one of the four.

Who are the FOUR?
