There in lies the question. Can the EU force a member to remain a member? Or does the EU wield that much power over their members to essentially disapprove an exit by allowing an unsigned forced / arguably illegitimate “request” ? Kinda like a bank cashing an unsigned check when the account holder has informed the bank that the check was written against their will and refused to sign it.

The UK could have left on March 29, this year, but the British have asked twice for an extension and now is the third time.

The EU is a confederation, the executive of which are the heads of government.

If the office of PM requests an extension, the other leaders listen to it.

Yet, boris just did request an extension.
