Lowe was a very good receiver for the Ducks and played in the Championship game. Sounds like the kid was going to blow his head off committing suicide. He only had one shell.
I think many guys have had some coaches in their lives who made a difference.Working with kids in the 12-17 age group is about as hard as it gets.In my case we had coach Grau at Palmetto High School in the Miami area.
He was a fair guy and a mans man,he suffered no fools. If you screwed up you got the "oscar". THe oscar was a piece of leather that held his silver whistle with a knot in the end. When you got "the Oscar" you had to bend over and the coach gave it to you pretty good.You didn't screw up much any more.Hurt like hell.
Just an isolated example of how many good coaches there were and are helping mold kids.
