I lived in Metairie for a long time, and was friends with a family member of Duke’s. I met David Duke several times. The KKK thing is for real. He struck me as the type who would do anything for whatever is expedient for him, shifting with the wind. Up close you can see all the plastic surgery he’s had on his face. His family is very proud of him, my friend did deny racism. Duke struck me as a very odd person, something not quite right. In that part of Louisiana back in that time it wasn’t frowned upon by many to be in the KKK. I believe Duke wasn’t heavily into the KKK but was fully part of that culture, and he exploited it for political reasons. Back then he was always running for some sort of political office (as a Republican!) and had toned down his rhetoric, and was actually elected.
