Texas prosecutors said on Friday they would seek a murder indictment against the former Fort Worth police officer who shot dead a 28-year-old black woman in her home.
"We have completed an initial review of the case, and based on the evidence we intend to ask the Grand Jury for an indictment of murder against Aaron Dean," Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Sharen Wilson said in a statement. "We will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law."
Jim Lane, an attorney representing Dean, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Of course the article is careful to tell us that the man who is going to jail is White, and that the women he killed was Black.
That is what this is about, and nothing else.
No other point is necessary.
And her being inside her own home, and him outside looking in the window.
If the officer was black and the woman white would you still think he shouldn't face prosecution? How about white and white?
not at all. this is about the idiotic and pathetic abuse of power by the police. there has been a literal SPATE of killings by cops who fired FROM OUTSIDE THE HOUSE into a dwelling. then comes some bullcrap about “they had a gun.” this is utter nonsense. i have every right to have a gun in my dwelling and to have it in my hand when some perv is slinking around my house, with NO flashers on the car, NO announcing “Police! Investigating a report”or anything like.
I don’t care if you are black, brown, white, yellow, red or even green, this kind of pitiful pathetic idiocy has to stop. If you are so damned terrified that you are “putting your life on the line” that you have to murder civilians in their homes, then find another job.
THAT is what this is about. Nothing else.
About time.
Prosecution, yes; but murder, no. More likely manslaughter.
But the mob has to be satisfied.
Good question.
It would be the right call if convicted. What was this woman supposed tondo about a potential prowler in her yard?
It is Texas. There is no other charge, in an unlawful killing, than murder. The sentence, if convicted, will reflect the level of seriousness.

Ironic but if she immediately called the police she would probably still be alive. Presuming someone did actually call to report the open front door.
Unless that wasn’t a police officer, then she’d might be dead.
An intentional killing is still a killing. “Manslaughter” was invented to let people off easy for murder.
I think his point is that the nasty media is pushing the race card. To the media, the death of the woman is secondary. I noticed this theme too. When the shooting first occurred, race was not mentioned at all. The reports were only about the death of the woman. Then within 8hrs perhaps, some crap reporter found out the race of the woman and the cop. Then instantly, all the media could do was to lead off the story by informing you it was a black woman and white cop. Less important to the media was the fact the cop killed a woman.
Just my 2cents
Texas does not separate voluntary from involuntary manslaughter. Manslaughter by a police officer is IIRC automatically upgraded to murder charges.
Also, if you watched the bodycam (which to their credit, the FWPD did release) you would see that it was felony murder as well. The cop broke the law and death was a result. Instant felony murder, buh-bye,
More likely manslaughter.
He intended to kill his target.
He elected to pull the trigger.
Thats murder.
Homicide — which refers to any unlawful killing of a person — can be charged as murder, capital murder, manslaughter or negligent homicide.

I am not blaming her. Just making the point. I'd guess it's most likely murder due to cop's extreme fear leading to reckless and cowardly behavior.
The door being open gives the cop some defense but seems like a no brainer that you announce yourself and enter rather than what he did.
The person that made the call has been identified and interviewed and the dispatch call recording has been released. The officer in question along with his partner also did interview him prior to going to check the house.
That happened already in Minneapolis with the Somali cop shooting the white woman by her house. He was convicted of 3rd degree murder and sent away for 12 years.
