Joe Biden’s presidential campaign is hitting major bumps at a critical moment in the 2020 campaign.
A little more than three months before the Iowa caucuses, Biden is widely seen as having lost his frontrunner position to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
He’s an underdog in Iowa, is coming off another forgettable debate performance and has just $9 million in cash on hand.
Democrats say a number of factors have weakened his stature, including verbal flubs and long-winded rambles and what they say is an inability to be consistent in taking the fight to President Trump.
“It’s increasingly clear he's not up to the job of running a campaign,” one Democratic strategist unaffiliated with any of the presidential campaigns said in criticizing Biden’s operation.
Other Democrats say that Biden has always been a weak candidate boosted by strong name recognition and his years as former President Obama’s vice president. They argue his centrist politics and elder-statesman status are a difficult fit with a primary electorate that is leaning progressive.

This 100%. Biden never had any serious support, he’s too old and problematic for the insane blue haired catlady base now. It looks like Warren is becoming the presumptive front-runner, but honestly given how the state of things are I wonder if they’re just phoning it in like the GOP did in 1996. Their only hope is that they will have record turn out from Trump Derangement and the Hispanic demographic now being at a record high for the voter base will carry them over the top.

None of their candidates is personable, exciting and has fresh ideas.

I remember 1996. I was there at a Dole rally in San Diego. Such high hopes, so little actual hope. Happy to be on the other side in 2020. It sucks to be on the losing side. That being said, Bob Dole is a Mensch. A real American and a real hero. He should have been president, but sadly rules are rules, and it is nearly impossible for an incumbent president to lose. I am happy that a real American, Donald J Trump, has earned, and will be the beneficiary of, the reality of US Constitutional electoral politics.
