U.S. Coast Guard offloads $92M worth of smuggled cocaine
UPI ^ | October 17, 2019 | Darryl Coote

The U.S. Coast Guard offloaded more than 6,900 pounds of cocaine in San Diego that was seized from drug smugglers in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, officials said.

Offloaded Wednesday, the cocaine, which is valued at more than $92 million, was seized from drug smuggling vessels between July and October by the crews of three Coast Guard cutters including the Alert, the Robert Ward and the Seneca off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America,...

Autopsy: Dayton shooter had drugs in his system, two victims struck by police gunfire
UPI
Daniel Uria
[Excerpt:]
"Preliminary autopsy findings showed the gunman who shot and killed nine people in Dayton, Ohio, before being killed by police had cocaine in his system at the time of the shooting and that some other victims were struck by police gunfire...'And the assailant's cavity blood sample was found to contain cocaine, alprazolam and ethanol.'"

So no, Connor Betts didn't legally purchase or possess any weapon. He was prohibited. We have some serious drug problems--not a "gun violence" problem. Many more people die from drug abuse than from murders committed with firearms. One problem with Democrats besides their communism, is that too many of their constituents love drug abuse.

The U.S. Coast Guard offloaded more than 6,900 pounds of cocaine in San Diego

Offloaded? Who'd they sell it to? Did the buyer get a bulk discount?

According to my memory from the TV Show Miami Vice, that's more than $100 million worth of flake. Someone's in a bad mood tonight but may not be in any kind of mood tomorrow if he's in debt to the Mexican cartels.

You are right about that. It’s not a gun problem it’s a drug problem. It’s prescription psychotropics in the case of nearly all of these mass shooters, and it’s cocaine, heroin, meth etc in the case of all the shootings in places like Chicago, Baltimore etc. Killing for drug turf, drug profit, revenge, money for drugs etc.

The shooter in Ohio may have poisoned his mind. I don’t know how much he had to drink, but mixing alcohol and cocaine - which seems to be common enough - creates ‘Cocaethylene’ in the liver - and can lead to all kinds of dangerous effects to the person using, but also greatly increases risk of psychosis and violence.

That he was also on alprazolam (xanax) - well it suggests the guy was pushing and pulling for a while. Maybe getting really high, then taking xanax to come down, then getting really high again for a while. I don’t know just speculating. See no reason to mix xanax with cocaine unless you’re already so wired from the cocaine you need to come down.

Sadly, there’s plenty more where that came from. And to think there are millions of Americans who want an open border with Mexico. 1400 people a week die from drug overdoses. I am not foolish enough to think we can stop it with a wall - it comes in by land, sea and sky. As long as there is demand the supply will come. And it is the interdiction of cocaine and heroin that has led to the increase of fentanyl and meth which can be made in a lab anywhere for a fraction of the cost. Heck, kids buy synthetic marijuana and bath salts in corner stores - legally. Even alcoholics have been known to drink mouthwash or rubbing alcohol.

The more we restrict the supply the higher the price and the more murders and robberies and burglaries we will have and the more synthetic drugs will be used. And with that, higher insurance rates for everyone, more taxes for prisons, destroyed families, destroyed lives.

The only realistic solution is to try to somehow manage things on the demand side. But all the death from drug overdoses and death from drug gang killings and armed robberies etc can be greatly reduced with a more sensible policy. Anyone with 2 eyes and a brain can see how destructive these drugs are, and even the users will admit that much - but they use anyway. Some are addicted, but powder cocaine is not really physically addictive just mentally and emotionally - crack and base and needles are much worse. But any politician who demagogues guns for what is obviously a drug problem is an icehole who should be kicked out of office. The majority of gun violence in this country is drug related and that includes the mass shootings.

WOW.

Whoever was responsible for that shipment...sleeps with the fishes possibly.

Remember what Capone did to the bootlegger who got caught in “The Untouchables”

Indeed. Pretty ballsy to bring in that much in one shipment. But that probably means there is 100,000 pounds more that got through.

Think about that for a second. Or maybe you saw the story of the ship that was owned by JP Morgan bank that the feds impounded"> - something like 45,000 pounds of Bolivian snow discovered... $1.3 billion worth.

Do the math on this and think about how much chit is being shoveled up the noses of Americans every year. I don't know who bankrolls that kind of shipment if it isn't coming from the source. How do you even pay a cartel boss $1.3 billion? In bitcoin?

LOL. That’s a lot of rental cars.

I saw parts of that interview, and his pinned eye pupils, rambling answers and excitable mannerisms sure reminded me of people I knew in years past.

These investment banks are as CROOKED as they come and the’re a corporation so no one gets arrested.

Can’t arrest a corporation. That and the payoffs.

And Americans are IDIOTS for buying so much or any.

What is the Converted Drug Weight Calculator ??? Well I found this tidbit and from the looks of it somebody sort of knows how to play with MSOffice and spreadsheets to convert to the equivalent of Pot...

Your TAX Dollars hardly working.
/////////////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Converted Drug Weight Calculator (Dec. 2018)

When a drug case involves multiple controlled substances, USSG 2D1.1, Application Note 8(B) provides a means to determine a single offense level for the various substances. This application note sets a converted drug weight (formerly marihuana equivalents) for each gram of commonly encountered controlled substances. The sum of the converted drug weights is then used to determine the base offense level under the drug quantity table found at 2D1.1(c). The Converted Drug Weight Calculator will calculate converted drug weights for most drugs, based on the November 1, 2018, Sentencing Guidelines section 2D1.1, Application Note 8, and will provide a base offense level based on the total quantity of converted drug weights.

The calculator does not account for the reduction in offense level when the accused receives a mitigating role as provided in USSG 2D1.1(a)(5), or any applicable reduction for acceptance of responsibility as allowed by USSG 3E1.1.

The calculator also does not account for enhancements for specific offense characteristics found at USSG 2D1.1(b), or enhancements from Chapter 3 or Chapter 4, Part B of the Guidelines. Finally, this spreadsheet does not apply to offenses covered by USSG 2D1.11, Unlawfully Distributing, Importing, Exporting or Possessing a Listed Chemical; Attempt or Conspiracy.

The Converted Drug Weight Calculator incorporates amendments effective November 1, 2018, and comments referencing relevant sections of USSG 2D1.1 and its Application Notes.

Education and treatment would be better uses of taxpayer dollars than fighting against supply.

Xanax is a monster that removes inhibitions in the user. It is often used as a date rape tool and is extremely addictive. Quitting cold turkey can kill a user. Here’s an account of a Xanax nightmare from a young man and some academic information from Dr. Valuck (professor at a school of pharmacy). It’s fascinating.

Xanarchy in America (Xanax Documentary Film)
https://hooktube.com/watch?v=xzHIRGPeuqo

Xanax is now being cranked out of basement mills in unmarked pills. As for alcohol and/or Xanax and cocaine, coke heads might get paranoid while high after heavier use and may try to sedate with something else. Most users can’t afford coke for so long, though, and will experience the same effect after switching to methamphetamine. They’ll get high and paranoid after shooting or smoking meth, then will drink to unconsciousness.
