Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano directly quoted the Constitution to say why it’s wrong for President Donald Trump to host the G-7 at a resort he owns, calling it a “direct and profound” violation.

“He has bought himself an enormous headache now with the choice of this. This is about as direct and profound a violation of the Emoluments Clause as one could create,” Napolitano told Neil Cavuto on Cavuto: Coast to Coast.

I am not sure if this was a smart move by Trump no matter how good the facility is.

After Trump’s re-election he’ll pay for and build a mega ballroom onto the White House. The left will be apoplectic when that happens.

I never said the White House was large enough to hold such an event. Not even close.
I hope your day gets better.

I think part of that “red” on his head is just scalp spray, no hair there.

I must agree with your assessment that using any Trump owned facility isn’t the proper thing to do. Why subject yourself and your family to unnecessary scrutiny. Appearances do matter.

I have a Bulletin for Napy:

President Trump DOESN’T GIVE A CHIT...and neither do we.

There’s nothing wrong with choosing the most perfect place, even though you own it.

Oh, and it’s not illegal or else Mick Mulvaney would have none of it.

Napy, you should be fired for doing such a lousy job.

I think I once heard Trump mention that it would be good because each country could have its own villa. If it is an excellent accommodation, it seems a shame to discount it just because it’s in a trust (or whatever he had to do.)

According to Wikipedia's list of G8 Summit locations, the second summit was held in Puerto Rico in 1976.

The site, chosen by President Gerald Ford, was the Dorado Beach Hotel and Country Club, which was owned by Nelson Rockefeller's brother Laurance's company RockResorts.

In other words, the second G7 Summit was held at the family-owned resort of the Vice-President of the United States.

Precedence?

The mentally ill homosexual contradicts himself, which proves he’s nothing but a liberal propagandist.

Nap: “I suppose one could argue that Trump handing the G7 to his own business isn’t a textbook emolument since it doesn’t really function as a bribe, which is what the constitutional ban is all about.”
