Cummings, a sharecropper’s son who rose to become a civil rights champion and the powerful chairman of one of the U.S. House committees leading an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, died Thursday of complications from longstanding health problems. I remember this powerful stalwart man walking in a group by some Tea Party protesters with the newly handed over gable to gloat their taking the House back. “They called me a “$&@$&$” he falsely charged of those peaceful protesters.
I remember the Looney Tunes cartoon where Yosemite Sam is killed and approaches a pair of escalators, and the “up” escalator is roped off.
