According to a Tuesday POLITICO report, there is a massive and coordinated effort on behalf of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), federal law enforcement agencies, and social media outlets like Twitter to monitor and remove disinformation from the internet during the 2020 election cycle.
In principle, this effort is an authoritarian effort to control the free flow of information which will almost certainly be used against conservatives on behalf of the leftist political establishment. To wit, the aforementioned organizations, which include the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are working to tackle what they view as a disinformation tactic called dogpiling, which is when a group of people band together to swarm a candidates social media profile.
Candidate Robert Francis Beto ORourke has been a victim of this tactic.
The Beto is a furry meme has been a longstanding troll for the candidate, who used to dress in a skintight sheep costume and rock out during his jam band days.
A furry, for those who are unfamiliar, is an enthusiast for animal characters with human characteristics, in particular a person who dresses up in costume as such a character or uses one as an avatar online.
ORourke fits the definition, but according to POLITICO, the established order has not taken kindly to the Twitter troll.
After the September debate, DNC Tech sent out a summary of suspicious activity it spotted by monitoring Twitter, the report said. The party found that a Twitter thread by Beto ORourke was the target of dogpiling, the technical term for when trolls coordinate on one thread to dominate the candidates mentions. The Beto dogpile concerned a popular meme that says Beto is a furry.
DNC Tech is an organization setup specifically to monitor such things, from actual disinformation to Twitter trolling, and to protect its candidates from the internet at large.
Policing the Beto is a furry meme is a funny example of how our overlords have been trolled into oblivion, and how they are obviously upset about it.
But there are more serious ramifications to this overbearing thought police system. In fact, the thought police were out in full force during Tuesday nights debate.
In its note to campaigns, the DNC explained that as with previous debates, on Tuesday night Twitter would also have its own cyber war room set up to monitor debate-related discourse for coordinated manipulation,' POLITICO said. Campaigns were instructed to forward any hashtags your campaign expects to use or expects to be used against you (hatetags) during the debates; to the DNC for monitoring.
Obviously, no sane person is advocating on behalf of misinformation. But consider whats actually happening here. Very powerful, historically left-wing entities are aligning to decide what can and cannot be said about particular candidates, and what qualifies as disinformation is totally subjective and up to those powerful left-wing entities. Its a power mechanism designed to benefit the political left. Thats why theyre putting memes in the same category as intentional lies.
Worse still, POLITICO said that 4,000 social media accounts were removed after the September debates, based on the discretion of this power mechanism.
Weve seen over and over that conservatives get banned from social media for vague terms of service violations. Does anyone really trust the DNC, the high-level law enforcement entities who tried to stop Trump from becoming president in 2016, and far-left Twitter to give conservatives a fair shake and allow them to speak freely during the 2020 cycle? Or is it more likely that conservative speech will be deemed to be disinformation, and those conservatives will be barred from political discourse?
A crazed, angry brony?
I would have thought they were mostly infantilized and not outwardly threatening.
Not quite crazed, but unstable for sure.
He has issues.
Is that against the law? Can I expect a visit from the G Men now ?
Don’t worry. It only hit your Social Credit Score for now. Won’t be a problem till your audit.
