I’m not absolving the cop who killed her. He was clearly in the wrong.
I’m just wondering who else is at fault besides the cop who shot her. Is it a problem with the way the called was dispatched to the officers out on patrol? He had only been on the force for a year and half. He must have been partnered with a more experienced officer. If the experienced cop knew that the door had been open for 4 hours, he should have realized that they probably weren’t walking into a crime in progress. They should have had a plan before leaving their car. Did the other cop ring the bell, knock on the door & she didn’t hear it over the sound of the video game she was playing? Or did he fail to use proper procedure also?
From what I saw of the unedited full bodycam vid before it got pulled down off YouTube for terms violations, they never rang the bell, knocked on the door, didn’t ever call out.
It really is looking like the only failure was that of the officers. Well - the officers *and* their training and command.
