The defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues visited the White House and met with President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. Tuesday.
A tradition of North American sports teams visiting the U.S. capital dates back to at least 1865 , but the practice has grown divisive under the Trump administration.
The White House livestreamed the public ceremony on YouTube, which fans can watch below.
President Trump complimented multiple Blues players, including Alex Steen, Jaden Schwartz and Jordan Binnington for their play during the team's championship run during his speech. He also recognized superfan Laila Anderson , who was in attendance at the public ceremony.

The NHL is the least political of all the major sports, even baseball. Watch the video and you can tell these guys are really excited to be at the White House.
It is somewhat scary to note that the only major sport whose players want to visit the WH is populated by mostly non American players.
The woke writer of this piece could not resist quoting this bit of mind reading: " ESPN reporter Greg Wyshynski noted Tuesday that he feels there are likely players among the team "who are probably uncomfortable about this trip" but predicted none would express that opinion publicly."
Get that? He feels...it is likely...(players are) probably uncomfortable... Really??? Looking at the video I think all of the players looked very comfortable, but what do I know.
Finally, I have to say I'm proud of all those Canadian boys. They certainly showed up their counterparts in the National Felons League and the (Made in China) NBA.
I rather think the Canadians especially want to be around an Alpha leader.
So many of our teams are brainwashed into signaling they are okay as Betas; in their hearts (and britches) they are most likely very, very jealous of the Alphas.
Please dear Lord, keep this man, his family, the Vice President, his family and those responsible for their safety committed to our Constitution.
Keep their feet on the path You have designed for them.
What pro sports teams were around in 1865?
Grizzlies and hockey moms are excellent. The best gift Canada ever gave the US is hockey and Wayne Gretzky. That put hockey in the warm states and got the game Coast to Coast. Fast, physical, and politically clean so far.
When President Calvin Coolidge was told that George Halas and the Chicago Bears were visiting the White House, he supposedly said: Oh good! I love animal acts!
You asked. The team declared themselves professional four years later but they were not amateurs.
Old Calvin might have liked hockey. Sometimes it can get pretty animal. :)
god i miss those Gretzky years...we actually started renting the ice and playing again because of him...best player in all team sports history, not even close.

Political correctness has yet to poison the game of hockey.
Russian collusion. At least thats how they beat my Big Bad Bruins.
The years that the Islanders kept drilling the Oilers really chaffed my butt. But Gretzky, Coffee, Messiah, Greg, and Kuri gave me the fever. Its the sport I go to after the World Series. Everyone worried about Russians coming into the NHL it made the game faster with more skill. Everyone in the world had to keep up. A truly great spectator sport.
Unfortunately, the Florida Panthers had a “pride” night last season.
I will NEVER understand how someone can be “proud” of being a genetic dead-end.
The management of the teams are always trying to virtue signal, no denial on that. The flag protest will be harder to accomplish. Hockey is a multi country sport. I wish all the sports leagues would just play the game. Screw this politically correct feces.
Well there you go, let’s set the precedent Must be somehow impeachable conduct to doing this, considering President Johnson was under impeachment shortly there after.
In fact, this visit by many foreign players would serve as a good cover by some to try to influence the upcoming 2020 election. Go for it, Adam
All championship teams should accept these invites, those who don’t aren’t true American teams.
