So, if you do see a Ft. Worth police officer in your backyard, unannounced at night, should you be in fear for your life? Just saying....not a good precedent for them.

They’re trained like they’re MPs in the Baghdad Green Zone. Community police officer is out; MP is in.

The neighbor that called the police about the door being
open will have a hard time living with this I suspect.

“ What is an 8 yr old doing up at 230 am?”

Watching his aunt get murdered.

Snooping outside the house is how you find out if someone is being held hostage. He may not have wanted to force a hostage situation if it could be avoided.

If someone has a gun drawn on you, and they want to, you'd get out "Police Officer..." and be dead.

More information will come out. No need to rush to judgment here.

re. The first stories on Sunday implied that she had a gun, but nobody but me seemed to notice.

Many of us noticed. Those stories said a gun was found in the house. Nothing was mentioned that suggested she had been holding it.

If she’d only had a dog... the cop would have shot it, too.

I'm not casting any judgment since I wasn't in the room or in the shoes of the responding officer.

A tragic series of events and one that has ruined the lives of the family that lost a daughter and mother and a law enforcement officer who joined the force for all the right reasons.

I sure wouldn't want to be on that jury........

Did I miss the part where the cop identified himself before he just pulled his gun and fired?

Have they released all of the camera footage yet? If not, we have no reason to believe anything that they say about it.

Even if she did have a gun, she was in her own house. She was completely in the right legally, morally, and ethically.

We have grandchildren over for the weekend. 2:30 am is not that unusual for video games.

One thing about all this is crystal clear, and that’s the outcome of the welfare check. She is not doing well, not well at all. Could be argued she’s never been worse.

It is a change. In favor of the cop.

But only IF we can believe the police. Did this 8 year old really say this? If so, he screwed the pooch.

No, the first stories on Sunday indicated the gun was on a nightstand. Cops even posted a picture of it sitting there.

Now we have more info. She pointed the gun at a cop. This changes things. But not by much. The cop is still a murderer.

What I don’t get is that if she feared a prowler, then why FGS was she leaving her front door wide open?

Not that this lowers the cop’s crime any, but Is it possible that they could make an 8 year old say anything during interrogation?
