Navy bans Satanists from holding 'satanic services' at the US Naval Academy after the group announced they were planning weekly meetings An email sent to U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen on October 8 offered to hold 'satanic religious services' hosted by the Satanic Temple
The email offered to hold discussions of satanic philosophy, along with the 'literary history of Satan'
A spokeswoman with the USNA asserted that it was shared prematurely, adding that the group originally asked to hold a 'study group'
She added that the Satanic Temple represents 'a non-theistic religious and politically active movement'
The military is forbidden from engaging in political activity

Literary history of Satan. Starting with Saul Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals?
The USAFA on the other hand has bent over backwards to accommodate Satan worship
In my career I knew officers that were satanists, some in very sensitive jobs.
Get your popcorn! The timing of this policy change is the same “start a court fight judo” used against us by the liberals for years. It looks like the left is going to be busy trying to put out these fires in so many places that they are going to be spread pretty thin trying to pick a course of action.
Yes, the ACLU will be checking in any time now.
What Naval Academy midshipmen would possibly be interested in such a fringe activity or topic?
Don’t just ban satanic services, flush the Satanists out of the my (I pay for it, as do you) Naval Academy. Satanists don’t understand right from wrong. The Navy needs leaders, not satanist idiots.
What’s troubling about this incident is that it did not register as obviously unacceptable conduct from the very outset by those promoting it and especially by Naval command leadership.
Can somebody explain how our Constitution requires an anything-goes tolerance of religions like Voodoo and Satanism, which have impoverished civilizations since the dawn of time? Our founding fathers never intended to give Constitutional shelter to Satanism.
How about the ones who got their appointments from ultra lib congress critters?
Contemporary Satanists are anti-Christian atheist supremacists.
Theirs is a political order (and a self professed hate group) not a religious sect.
The Church of Satan (and their offshoots) admits they don’t believe that Satan is real, so by their own admission they are not a religion, and therefore not covered by religious freedoms.
Now that McCain is buried there, seems Satanic worship would fit right in......
Potential candidates to become cadets or midshipmen receive nominations from their Congressional representatives, but these nominations do not make your acceptance automatic. The candidate is still supposed to be interviewed, and certainly at one time, it was necessary for them to pass a moral well-being examination.
Using terms like "being of good moral fiber" must seem antiquated in today's society, but I would think the service academies still want the "best of the best" to be their officers.
I'm not saying that all of their officers must be practicing Christians. Some might certainly be agnostic or even atheist. That's the breadth of a rational spectrum. To go beyond that and openly worship Satan is an evil act, and in my opinion, those are not the kind of people we want as leaders within our military.
That was my thought, that this was even a newsworthy item.
Once upon a time, if word of this got out to peers, fellow officers, peers, would have said “What are you doing? Are you trying to deliberately ruin your career?” or that would have been bypassed, gone straight to command who would have investigated and it would have been taken care of.
Now?
Good God. This all reminds me of that West Point communist cadet. That it even made national news is dumbfounding to me.
Right. Because what the military really needs is a bunch of woke anti-authoritarian radicals stirring the political pot at every opportunity.
That said, I did have a CO who had a voodoo doll with my picture on it one time. I'm not saying he was worshiping anything but I did notice that when he transferred out these shooting pains I used to have tapered off...
We shame those giants today.
You’d call them Secular Humanists, and the central tenant of Satanism is ‘Do what thou wilst.’
Right and wrong are arbitrary in that context. If your interests temporarily align with theirs, you’ll be fine.
Why would we have Satanists at the Academy at all?
What about the Druid Reformed Church, can they have services?
