He insisted the US either help stop the Turkish attack or allow the Syrian Democratic Forces to strike a deal with the Assad regime in Damascus and their Russian backers, allowing Russian warplanes to enforce a no-fly zone over northeast Syria, thereby denying Turkey the ability to carry out airstrikes

Well there's your solution right there. If I was him I'd be doing it posthaste.

Interesting that the media are all so concerned about the Kurds.

“You are leaving us to be slaughtered,”

Life is tough but, we are not going into mission creep and hour quagmire...

You are posting that Trump is joined with Turkey in destroying our ally, the Kurds, there.

A couple good articles that would argue that point...

Why did the Kurds not stay loyal to Syria? How many benfitted financially from US involvement? It would've made sense to partition Iraq and give the Kurdish north to them to stay within those borders and have a nation. Now, the net result will be an expanded Turkey which is still our NATO ally.

I really thought that President Trump was more of a student of history than he's demonstrating. He seems blinded by the foreign policies of Saudi Arabia and Israel. In Ukraine, the "Russia, Russia, Russia" rhetoric stopped him from ending the misadventures there.

I wish Dan Quayle were still in the mix. He's the one who knew something about foreign policy.

If we had gotten Quayle/Forbes instead of GWB/Cheney, the world would probably be a better place now. I see that as the Deep State takeover, with its forces being embedded in gov starting with GHWB.

Kind of like Antifa asking the president to defend their actions....

Removal of 50 guys causes them to be slaughtered?

Hmmm. I guess the fighting prowess of the Kurds was a little overstated then.

“OK here is what is happening in Syria. We have 50 troops there plus some weapons makers who are testing weapons in limited live combat conditions. We are keeping this little war going, not to protect the Kurds, but to test military AI. We are literally running product tests for American AI weapons that are being tested on the Turks and Syrians.”

As far as what we have been doing in Syria, your description is nothing but your imagination.

No the kurds need to give up their 3 year attempt to carve out a piece of Syria and claim it as the new Kurdistan. we turned a blind eye to it but time ran out, it didn’t happen, Assad won the civil war and the US is leaving. The kurds nned to pick up and head back to their autonomous province in N Iraq.

You must have picked this up from some other commentators here. A bit of independent research will show you that the Kurds have been the primary demographic in what is now northern Syria for centuries.

Kurds and America are not allies
Kurds fought ISIS to protect their land.
America fought ISIS to vaporize no-names thugs

Kurds and Turkey have been fighting for 200 years.

Let the UN send in peacekeepers

America is not under attack.
How is this President Trump’s fault?

ISIS is defeated.
If Congress wants to fight Turkey, Congress has the authority to declare War.
But, Congress is busy looking for a reason to impeach the President and not give the President a victory.

Ah, it is said that there are none so blind as those who will not see... That would be you. Muslims fighting Muslims and you want to take sides... Isn’t that similar to picking a turd up from the clean end?

The kurds are historically nomads. That means they roamed around. They have been trying to carve out an independent province in Turkey, Syria or Iraq for eons.

During the US invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq the kurds were able to stake out an autonomous province in N Iraq on the Turkish border. Everybody pretty much leaves them alone. Except for the fact that the kurds constantly raid across the border into Turkey. The PkK are nobody’s pal. They have a fierce fighting reputation which we took advantage of in the fight against ISIS.
