Louisiana Governor - election today. Everybody vote!! Polls close at 8pm. If any candidate gets a majority (51%) of the vote in the first round that candidate wins the election.
Secretary of State showing that with 53 percent of vote counted, Edwards is down to 45 percent. I doubt East Baton Rouge and New Orleans can get him to 50.
2000 of 3934 precincts reporting - 51%
absentee reporting - 58 of 64 parishes
Votes
194,363 Ralph Abraham (REP) 25%
348,674 John Bel Edwards (DEM) 45%
207,804 “Eddie” Rispone (REP) 27%
Edwards down to 45% with 51% reporting
Woo hoo! Thank you, Jesus!
Orleans parish @ 37% in.
It’s frustrating. If the Republicans had run only one solid candidate he or she could probably reach the 50% plus one vote, yes? Then there wouldn’t be a runoff....
That’s the way it works down in LA, correct?
2272 of 3934 precincts reporting - 58%
John Bel Edwards (DEM) 45%
Edwards starting to swirl
I posted results from the Live Results site to be of help to those who might be interested. There are others who are much more informed about the LA political workings than me.
Edwards is gone... GOP is taking over 50% of the vote.
I expect the GOP to win the run off. In the New Year, LA will have a new GOP Governor.
You can take that to the bank.
“GOP swept every statewide office and has the legislature, the congressional delegation and both US Senate seats.”
That is exactly the info I was looking at. If you take a peak at the statewide races, in almost every contested race, the republicans are winning. May I say “bigley”?
what ever has happened to BOB BECKEL...
Anyone know where he now is?
He has totally disappeared off TV,
just wondering...
LSU and Florida all tied up at 28
It’s an open primary. This is NOT the main election! That will be in November.
Decision Desk is projecting a runoff.
Likely a GOP supermajority in the LA state legislature.
It is if Edwards gets over 50%
If that happens, he’s won re-election...
but it ain’t gonna happen.
True. Edwards wont improve on tonights showing.
He couldnt get over 50% in a heavily GOP State. Quite telling, indeed.
I think he was let go due to his on-air comments while inebriated.
Maybe he ran off with Shepard Scott.
