In my neck of the Upstate NY woods, owners of an existing home worth 200 grand can pay almost 5 figs in annual property taxes.

And the owners aren’t rich.

That said, the SALT cap needs to stay.

All deductibility does is encourage Albany to screwing taxpayers.

I’d support removing the deduction entirely, even though I live in NYS and own a home.
