Want to bet he doesn’t even know what a “quad” is? He read it somewhere and thought it sounded cool ...
So you need to get your arrogant indignant self imposed knowledge up to speed my friend. Yes, operators are transmitting at way more than 5 watts. Want to back up and try again???
"Give your radio operation a power boost with our selection of amplifiers, including high-power HF amplifiers, solid-state amplifiers, and mobile amplifiers. From affordable 600-watt PEP output to all-out 1,500-watt continuous power, our selection of linear amplifiers will deliver the stable, efficient power punch you need to operate with authority from 160 through 6 meters. Whether youre working in RTTY, CW, or SSB, we have the amplifier you need to command superior DX performance. My uncle Bob, circa 1978.
That's why the deep state's Nellie Ohr obtained a Ham radio license back in 2016..............
“Your quad cannot process signals that it doesnt receive. Gain isnt magic.”
That is exactly right, back to fine tuning for the standing wave ratio and polarity.
re: “Love to see what the output signal from a 350 watt AM/FM Galaxy looks like on a spectrum analyzer.”
He’s nuts if he thinks a little rice-box under-dash radio will do 350 Watts - there isn’t enough HEAT SINK on the rear of the radio for the power transistors ...
Never heard of a 1200 watt amateur radio.
See, this is why you need to study and gain some knowledge, and then maybe you can pass the test and get on their air. Stop complaining about the licensing. It's not too much work. Don't be so damn lazy.
FYI there Chumley, I own amplifiers bigger and more sophisticated than you can ever dream of having. I also have antenna's bigger and more sophisticated than you can ever dream of having sitting on top of a tower bigger than you can ever dream of having.
Go play with your Galaxy Radio and 350w crappy amplifier elsewhere. You really don't know what you're talking about and you've made sure we all know it too.
Interception of radio signals from the surface by satellites is trivially easy. Precise location of the transmitter is likewise trivially easy.
I think I recall that Voyager 1's transmitter is like eleven watts or some such ridiculously tiny amount. That thing's like a dozen bazillion miles away. We're still receiving.
Man, I’ve been working really hard at not busting your chops here, but seriously, Standing Wave Ratio??!!
Has not dung to do with the efficiency of a receiving antenna.
YOU are the reason that the frequency spectrum should be regulated.
The “slice” of RF that you do have access to is amazing in it’s ability to support long range signal propogation during appropriate atmospheric conditions, and you boast publicly about your illegal radio set up, and spew ignorance and misinformation to support the idea that you should be able to trash up the rest of the radio spectrum.
Your rig transmits AT LEAST 50 WATTS of off-channel 3rd order harmonics, and you lecture here about the quality components that make up your Chinese or Taiwanese made Galaxy and SWR.
LOL @ you.
To have them walk up to my business address, come in the door, and ask about my TX source took mobile capability. I watched them down the street with a directional antenna in their hand doing 360s with it until they nailed my signal source. It was the creepiest thing even though they were wrong and I had a commercial use license. Thing is I keyed on purpose just to see if that was what they were doing or not. Sure enough, from a hundred miles away they came.
Truth. Want to bet me his little amplifier has the words "Texas Star" on it?
Oh. My. Sides.
Keep ‘em coming, you’re making me laugh!
I programmed mine by hand. It’s not that hard. In shtf, these radios would be useful for local tactical and recon purposes. That’s it.
Congratulations! Hope to work you on the bands some time.
“Interception of radio signals from the surface by satellites is trivially easy. Precise location of the transmitter is likewise trivially easy.”
Easily the most ridiculous statement in the discussion so far... And that’s quite an accomplishment.
I stand corrected... I should have used the term “Rig” rather than “Radio”. I apparently knocked myself out on a technicality in terminology here because the scrutiny is so tight.
ONCE AGAIN, ONE SMALL THIN SLICE? NOPE? NO WAY?
No amplifier on the Galaxy, Straight up 350 from it’s own box when switched on by the way. And I respect the spectrum. Even with my AM VFO I never TX, I only listen. I am NOT illegal until I actually TX and you operators absolutely know this. The 350 sometimes out powers the licensed operators blasting in the CB band. It’s self defense necessity. How about that? You own all the rest of the spectrum yet still have to come dominate the Citizens Band because you are pissed off you even lost that. Pure greed guys, pure greed.
There are no restrictions to listening.
Would you care to explain why you would say that?
Do you believe the government has no rf receiving satellites? Do you believe a 5 watt signal will not penetrate the atmosphere and reach geosynchronous altitudes? Or perhaps you believe the government has no interest in monitoring our radio transmissions?
These would be far superior over gmrs or FRS in a SHTF situation.
As we both know, handhelds aren’t meant for long distance. They are good for local use & on repeaters. I have a dual band antenna mounted on top of our RV & have no problem reaching the regional & statewide repeaters when we travel.
The antenna is about 13’ above ground.
But,we also travel with a transceiver when we travel.
I got 2 meter for when we travel & are in areas with no cell service primarily for emergencies. We used it for local directions alot before GPS became commonplace. With that antenna & the transceiver there’s usually a repeater in most places where there’s no cell service that can be reached at 50 or much less watts.
What’s the frequency Kenneth?
