She has all she really wants and theres no one who can please her like she can please herself.
Life is short. Why bring a power struggle into otherwise comfortable world?
Excellent.
Agreed.
I was single from age 43-46. The supply of women who fit the above description is endless.
To understand why there are so many, you have to understand salience. Salience is, or are, those things that make one thing stand out from other things, and as far as romantic partners go, it is radically different for men and women.
The things cited about this lovelorn woman: "well-educated (two Ivy League schools), creative, intelligent, sophisticated, successful, attractive" are things that are highly salient TO women ABOUT men, because they predict success at provisioning. Provisioning is providing, with insight and care.
For men looking at women, these things are not salient AT ALL. They're interesting, they may or may not invoke admiration (depending on his station in life and how he was raised), but in terms of attraction, they just don't matter at all.
How many times have I heard, "What? Are you AFRAID of successful women?"
Men aren't afraid of them, we just don't care about those particular things. If they are present in the right woman, fine. If the right woman doesn't have them, it doesn't matter.
What is going on is a narcissistic belief by WOMEN who want those things IN A MAN, that idf they BECOME what they desire, men will desire them FOR THOSE THINGS.
This, of course, is false and is the source of a lot of trouble and even heartbreak.
But, but, what about the "model-like body"?
Speaking of 38 year olds, and never having been active in the upper echelons of the entertainment industry, there are damn few 38 year olds with "model-like bodies".
But suppose this wifey wannabe in fact HAS a model-like body?
First of all, that's good for a ride (or so I've been told by a friend :-) ), but it's not SALIENT for a man's main objective in finding a wife, which is reproductive fitness. Model bodies don't have broad hips and big breasts, for the most part, both of which are highly salient for a man looking to marry.
And in survey after survey of men who cite the most important thing in a woman that could make them consider a marriage or even an LTR, the #1 answer is consistently "kindness". With regard to our 38 year old above, that's something we have heard nothing about.
That's who I married. Been with her since our mid-20's, happy with her for several decades now. And she cooks well, too.
up your alley of expertise
Or “where are all the good men”?
STOLEN. BY ME.
Id like to talk to you about my daughter whos a high achiever, the mom began. Shes a thirty-eight-year-old, well-educated (two Ivy League schools), creative, intelligent, sophisticated, loving, successful, attractive, with a model-like body, and surprisingly cant find a desired partner.
But she’s a despicable bitch to be around! Don’t know why she can’t find a man!
Because he'd be married to another man.
Bargaining power......a HUGE amount of it is youth. Feminists telling girls to focus on school and career until 30 is THE stupidest most self destructive advice one could possibly give a female hoping to find a partner and have a family.
Yes really. Its not rocket science. The feminist strategy of do whatever you want, guys will just have to accept a worse deal has not worked. Instead there is simply no deal.....no marriage and no kids. You didnt have to be a genius to see that would happen. It would be akin to telling guys to slack off and not earn much or put themselves in a position to earn much on the theory that women will just have to learn to accept it in a potential mate. There are things each of the sexes are hard wired by millions of years of evolution to want. Youre not going to talk them out of it.
28 is pretty strict. 30 though is pretty standard. You say you know 30 year olds who have no problem getting guys. Conversely, Ive known plenty of guys who would not consider marrying a woman older than her 20s - at least not til they reached their mid 40s. The marriage numbers would tend to support my observations.
Almost certainly, the picture has no connectiton to the article, other than someone needed a picture to go with the article.
I would put long odds the woman in the picture is *not* the daughter in the article.
brad pitt... or johnny depp??
or both?? (why not??)
lol
“That main bargaining power appeared to be beauty.”
Gosh. Who could possibly have guessed that?
ping
Not Guilty!
>>While previously she wasted many years on several senseless relationships”
She went out with some guys in school yada yada they had sex yada yada...
That looks like one of the baristas where I get coffee. Barista wants to be an actress, no surprise there.
