Encryption, other privacy measures, and decentralization have made the protest movement possible...... A major priority of the protest movement that has consumed Hong Kong for the past three and a half months has been to thwart the surveillance apparatus that's virtually everywhere. Demonstrators have felled camera poles with chainsaws, spray-painted security camera lenses, used green lasers to destroy sensors, and shielded themselves with umbrellas while marching through the streets.....

I so admire the HK Chinese. They are on the leading edge of democracy movements worldwide, and at great personal risk. They know what happened at Tiananmen. What a contrast they are with the "woke" millennials we must put up with here, wearing their Black Bloc/Antifa/Che Guevara t-shirts, hoping for socialist schemes of free-everything, class warfare, violent revolution, and coerced redistribution of wealth and income. The HK protestors wave American flags, even as our own native domestic terrorists burn the flag and profess a hatred for the American founding, the Constitution, the founders, and western civilization.

Well written and great post.
All too true.
There are lots of good kids out there.
But like my nephews, they talk with their vote.
My brother and sister don’t want their lives thrown away at some protest or confrontation.

We do have a lot of good kids here, of course, but unfortunately they are good despite their formal education.
Overall it’s probably a good thing that they stay home on Election Day more frequently than their elders, since they tend to vote more often than not with their unsophisticated, idealistic emotions.

Even the one that doesn’t vote said to me “How do dems plan on paying for ALL the things they want?”

The green ones are, on average, more destructive than the red ones. Higher wattage.
Unfortunately the use of a laser makes it very obvious where you are, so it’s prudent to employ one only from among a crowd of people. And keep on the move, else risk an impact from a rubber bullet (for now, later maybe with a full metal jacket).

Even the one that doesnt vote said to me How do dems plan on paying for ALL the things they want? That's a good start -- but remind him they can't pay for ANY of them without destroying the economy. We're not talking billions, it's TRILLIONS.
