Former Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy has been tapped to serve as outside counsel to President Donald Trump as the House impeachment inquiry expands.

Trey was a very effective Federal Prosecutor, I believe that he would have been able to do more in the HOR if he didnt have Paul Ryno to deal with.
The problem I see with it is that Gowdy had a love affair with the Creatures in the Black Lagoon. He kept praising the FBI as a whole, and the prosecutors in the DOJ. When this is all said and done, there shouldn’t be much of an FBI remaining, and the DOJ will have a ton of empty offices. The CIA should be burned to the ground. Is Gowdy willing to go that far? I doubt it.
EEVERYBODY knew Comey was covering up Hillary’s email info AT THE TIME and Gowdy was sticking up for Comey about it far too long as this video link demonstrates one example. I’ve had a lower opinion of him ever since. Don’t think he is the best person for this job (if this story is true) because he is so easily “baffled” when everybody knew the “fix” was in. jmo

Personally I see him as a deep state snake. Mr. Red Meat Prosecutor!.
It’s Traficant’s possum baby.
Well, hes got one now. Lets see what he does. His talk and his logic are awesome. Hope hes squeaky clean and loyal.
As chairman of the House Oversight Committee and the House Benghazi Committee, Gowdy exposed widespread misconduct and wrongdoing by many government officials. In fact, much of what we now know is thanks to Trey Gowdy. But as skilled a questioner as Gowdy was, he had zero authority to bring criminal charges against anyone. That power rests solely with the executive branch, in the person of the attorney general and ultimately the sitting president. This is 8th grade Civics, folks.
And by the way, in case anybody suspects that he was dirty... Trey Gowdy left Congress last year after four terms with a net worth of less than $200,000.
“Before his congressional career, Gowdy served as a federal prosecutor in the District of South Carolina from 1994 to 2000 and then as the solicitor (district attorney) for South Carolina’s Seventh Judicial Circuit, comprising Spartanburg and Cherokee counties”.
Accordingly, Mr. Gowdy was a successful prosecutor during his 6 year tenure.
I have gotten upset with Gowdy, but he’s, by far, the best interrogator there is... he asks the right questions.
He had announced he was joining a law firm, but he’s since joined Fox and now the President.
Haven’t read the thread yet. How many people here have trashed a congressman for not having the power to prosecute?
I repeat from threads passed: could you imagine people like Nadler, Waters, Pelosi with the power to prosecute?
I suspect the reason Trump wants him on his team is that Trey can play some really good golf.
Trump just hired a swamp insider. Sure, he says he not, but he is.
“Gowdy does know House rules and procedures better than most.”
You raise a good point and maybe the reason for the hire.
Thanks you for your critique of Trey Gowder. IMHO, he is highly underestimated by many on FR. He strikes me a super saavy and would have taken down a lot of traitors if he had been a position to prosecute. His prosecutorial record is flawless and he has a wry sense of humor that is always a plus.
All mouth. I cant think of one thing he has actually accomplished.
I’m going with my gut feeling on this by saying this is an excellent decision.
We’ll see.
