Too much competition from the MSM.
WBAI going off the air is an obvious indication of the great degree of hidden strength in the liberal message, and of the high level of enthusiasm among the public for all things liberal.
Salon and Air America come to mind as a $ sink for the wacaod left.
Yep, almost all shows and “news” programs are full of leftist talking points - there isn’t much left for any “progressive” talk show to cover.
There goes Al Frankens chance to hit the comeback trail.
“Back in the day,” middle 80’s to early 90’s I listened to that station daily. It was an honestly frank leftist station that had great entertainment when they weren’t propagandizing.
It was a zany crew: one guy used to open his program proclaiming “Comrades! I love Shakespeare! He was a complete idiot until he started talking and reading literature; when that happened he could be mesmerizing. There were better than average music programs too. For some reason Celtic-inspired music was prominent even though more than most of the announcers were Jewish. Not even college stations could top that.
It seems the redoubtable and insufferable Amy Goodman, of Democracy Now! has contributed the most to the downfall of not just BAI, but to Pacifica as well. You have to read this to get the picture; her hypocrisy and ruthlessness is breathtaking:
