For decades, WBAI-FM has remained a proudly scrappy alternative in New York’s radio market, a bastion of left-wing political commentary and community voices rarely heard elsewhere on the dial.

That identity was cast into doubt on Monday... ~snip. click on link.

Perhaps this should be in the humor section. Pacifica, the formerly tax funded, ultra far left, Public Broadcasting radio is hurting...

Going away as Air America did?

Why don’t liberal talk radio stations do well?

Too much competition from the MSM.

WBAI going off the air is an obvious indication of the great degree of hidden strength in the liberal message, and of the high level of enthusiasm among the public for all things liberal.

The "liberal strength" is shown on election days in the form of the vast cannon fodder known as the free sh!t army that could care less about radio stations pimping out awful financial policies.

Medicare and Social Security recipients who clamor for *compound interest* (Because what they paid in is a heck of a lot less than what they receive thanks to debt policies) off the current tax payers' backs are included, which is why fiscal financial restraint will be a perpetual pipe-dream.

Yep, almost all shows and “news” programs are full of leftist talking points - there isn’t much left for any “progressive” talk show to cover.

There goes Al Franken’s chance to hit the comeback trail.

“Back in the day,” middle 80’s to early 90’s I listened to that station daily. It was an honestly frank leftist station that had great entertainment when they weren’t propagandizing.

It was a zany crew: one guy used to open his program proclaiming “Comrades! I love Shakespeare! He was a complete idiot until he started talking and reading literature; when that happened he could be mesmerizing. There were better than average music programs too. For some reason Celtic-inspired music was prominent even though more than most of the announcers were Jewish. Not even college stations could top that.

It seems the redoubtable and insufferable Amy Goodman, of Democracy Now! has contributed the most to the downfall of not just BAI, but to Pacifica as well. You have to read this to get the picture; her hypocrisy and ruthlessness is breathtaking:
