Just for the Tanks here on Free Republic mate, he was with the Special Air Service Regiment, which is the Australian SAS, not the British.
Having served in Australia, I think the SASR is better than the UK SAS, but don’t point me out to any UK SAS and tell them I said that, ok?

USAF retired, here...Same here. I was a Msgt when only Seniors and Chiefs had stripes above. I never liked the change. I told my son to get a commission, since USAF Officers get a lot of respect. 👍 At his commissioning ceremony, they had a B-52 flyover, and as they threw their flight caps in the air, two F-16s did a flyover.

Nothing like seeing a BUFF in the raw.
I miss my early days of screaming F-4’s at O-dark 30, BUFF takeoffs and the smell of JP-4.

Someone got pictures of the B-52 flyover, but missed the F-16 fly over. This was at Maxwell, where he went to OTS.
